People will still buy gold as long as they can get it for a cheaper price than with these bonds. The gold farmers are only going to make their gold cheaper so more people are prone to buy it rather than your bonds

It's really important to understand that bonds do not need to undercut RWT prices in order to hurt the business of gold farmers. Bonds are not the same product, nor do they come with all of the risk of scamming and defrauding.

The point of bonds/RSGP price being player-decided through the free market is that the price will settle at the comfortable value players are willing to sell and buy for. It doesn't matter if that is not as good as gold farm RWT because it's still sating the demand that gold farmers serve.

For example, even if to start with Bonds 'only' rob the rwt gold farmers of half their trade, that is still serious damage to their operations and puts their business viability in jeopardy.

I don't feel that Bonds should ever directly compete with gold farmer prices, that's not the point. Bonds still undermine their business, marginalise their place in the market and make them leave for greener pastures in more vulnerable online games.

well put, I'm curious tho, I understand it's a solution to a part of the RWT sites. How does jagex plan to take care of the other part? So how will you completely get rid of gold farmer websites in the end?

Very intriguing! I hate bots. I dislike the idea of gold farmers and I'm disappointed at the figure Mod MMG quoted as 40-50% of players buy farmed gold. With numbers like this it is obvious that RS has to provide purchased gold and this sounds like a great solution. I still dislike the idea of purchased gold as it creates an economic class society still this sounds like an effective solution to bots, gold farmers, and Jagex profitability.

My only question is when Mod MMG wishes us God's blessing, which god does he mean? Guthix (God is dead?), Saradomin, Zamorak, Zaros, Jas, Bados...

Inco1902,

Because the bonds cost $5 for only 14 days of membership - that's $10 for 28 days - not a good deal for those who pay by the month or buy RS cards. And $5 for 160 GP?! - way bad deal all around!

It seems like we're moving into a RWT world right here on the game and those who've accumulated wealth by all the gambling and "doubling" will have a HUGE advantage over those of us who play by the rules. Would maybe sound more reasonable if ALL the players played by the rules.

AND... if Jagex KNOWS who these RWTraders ARE, how come they're STILL in the game? Just asking.

Exactly right. Advantage to the cheaters once again. Pathetic.

not sure why my first posting was removed...all I said was:

It was costing me $25 to play 90 days but will now cost me $32 for same 90 days. It's a price increase, period. It will not have any effect on anything else imo, EXCEPT, for players who are either rich in RS gp (never pay to play again?), but more importantly, it will allow people that don't have the irl $ to play to now be able to pay via rs gp. You will never stop RW trade, or bot's.

A rate increase it is, and i'm fine with that. Allowing people an option to pay in game is fine by me too.

PS to those parents that say to their kids they cant afford the *10 to let their kids play for a month...have another drink with that smoke. Even at $10/month to play...really?

This will nearly kill goldfarming but not entirely. Know that Jagex.
This is just going to make RWT more of a problem when it happens behind your back.

Trust me, I know the people I play with and they are just going to use this to their advantage.
