Well, anyway my fellow Runescapers, I think I'm out.

Jagex, I stayed with you through the removal of Free-trade, I stayed with you through the re-introduction of free trade, I stayed with you through the influx of bots and gold sellers, I stayed with you after RaF, I stayed with you after SgS, I stayed with you after SoF with buyable spins, I stayed with you through the EoC, I have stayed with through the BS you constantly tried to feed us and I even stayed through all those little mictrotransaction type updates that were leading up to exactly where we are today.

But enough is enough.

From a player who has been with you from near the start, from before you even had a proper site, I say goodbye. Thanks for the good times, the quests and friends, but my membership will no longer be renewed with the game in its current state. I'll be be sticking around just long enough to contact friends and get my things in order.

I don't get it.... how is this supposed to help? We can now basically use real money to buy bonds and use them to buy in game gold from players (Who COULD be gold farmers who may re-sell the bonds further in addition to gold now...).

In short we will be
using real money to buy gold from players
and giving current gold farmers a new resource to profit on.

Jagex didn't solve anything they just tapped into the gold farmer's profit!

Review of a similar PLEX(bond) system used in EvE Online(rs):
Original message details are unavailable.
everything in EVE is tradeable and so there are no purchasable in-game items or perks that can't be otherwise acquired with ISK. One player can drop $17.50 on a PLEX to get some ISK and another can grind level 4 missions or hoover up rocks to get it. Dropping money into EVE is then just a shortcut to cut out some of the ISK grind. But that grind doesn't just disappear into the ether; it's effectively traded to another player with more time on his hands. The net effect is that no avenue of item or wealth generation in the game is devalued or disrupted.

There's no doubt that the PLEX system lets you pay for in-game power with cash, but what you're actually buying is an amount of work done by other players within a closed game economy. Selling a PLEX is functionally equivalent to hiring someone to grind up ISK for you at a rate set by normal market forces, and that seems to be a much more palatable idea than spawning ships from thin air or selling exclusive cash shop uber death beams.

While it's technically possible to buy your way into better characters and expensive ships, I don't think that makes it pay-to-win as PLEX don't let you buy anything better than existing players have.

so:
They effectively taken care of ISK(gp) farmers
I looked up the prices and black markets are a bit more expensive than PLEX(bonds)
The players are fine with it, as it seems to work really well

GIVE IT A CHANCE GUYS, THIS IS JUST WHAT WE NEED !

HI

I think I should post here, because, well, I just don't get this.

I have been a loyal player since way back (check under my avatar), I am not English speaking, and I guess I am getting a bit oldish.

I do not merch, and I have never really been bothered with gold farmers. I am not even sure I know what they do.

I don't really understand this new bond thing, and do I have to really care about it?
I mean, do I have to buy them, use them, trade them? Can't I just be an ostrich, and bury my head in Al Kharid sand? There are sooo many new things in here as it is, and I just can't bring my brains around what it is ModMMG says in the video, or what is written about this. I just wanna play and have fun.

The final nail in the coffin... Just when I was about to start playing again.

RS3 is officially Pay2Win now. Buy anythingyou want with real world money. Gold, xp, items. Whatever.

So sad.

Thanks for killing the game Jagex. I won't be renewing my members.

The value of bonds is directly related to the price of black market mills. There's nothing to gain for gold farmers buying bonds. except making their "member-bots" free to use.
Crucual part to remember is: By buying a lot of bonds, the GP-price of bonds will go up. Making the $3 bond a better bang for ur dollar. Drawing players to buy bonds, in stead of GP made by farmers. So in short, if the farmer buys bonds, they lose business in selling GP

@ everyone saying "oo EVE did this and there is no rwt etc.":

look it up from google. There is a nice full page of results for "selling eve online isk". Their system has not eradicated rwt and therefore bonds will not eradicate goldfarming.

also, there is one more point to make here:

you cant buy accounts/level for bonds (yet...), that part of botting business stays the same or even grows.
