If people are saying this is real world trading, they could pretty much say buying normal membership is real world trading. I mean, you're paying real money for more features in-game right?

Think before you judge the game developer so quickly.

So you're implying that buying a service that will give you acess to additional features which might help you level up/earn money etc is the same as paying money to instantly aquire money and exp from things such as the SoF?

It amuses me how far the jagex supporters will go to justify their changes. Fox and sour grapes anyone?

No, you couldn't, don't be so stupid.
Buying membership puts everybody who buys it on an even footing (well minus SoF). We all have access to the same updates, the same opportunities and play that way. You are more so paying to play the full game and support the continued updates.

Oh and we have no proof that 40% of people buy gold.

I don't know anybody in game who does this and I 'm in a large clan, lots of things are said in our clan chats but we are all anti cheating.

No point in playing if you cheat, the point is to achieve those levels using knowledge of the game to gain you the fastest exp.

Exactly, playing the game is the point to the game. Not being best by investing a lot of money. It's actually the major problem in this society, we lack hard games that are simply really hard to win, and do not have the option pay to win. (And by this I don't mean buying membership, because that doesn't make the game easier, it in fact, with all the quests and additional skills make it harder, I just mean gold farming and paying others to level you up.)

Anyways, I think bonds are great idea, although they might not completely remove the gold farming accounts, I am very supportive of this decisions. One of the better game updates that actually has a lot of potential.

This will certainly be one of the more interesting changes the game has went through.
I can't imagine that the bonds will ever be competitive with the gold farmers on just the pricing but not having the risk (however big or small) of being banned means the farmers would have to sell for much cheaper in order to get their sales. This will likely reduce their numbers seeing as it would be less profitable. I guess that is how MMG and such reason it.

I liked the suggestion that bonds could be used to donate to charity too. Might be good for all the high end players quitting to make use of that in-game wealth.

This will, in the long term, absolutely kill goldfarming.

Are Jagex confident cheaters will pay 3x or more the illicit price so it is safe? Jagex are selling GP at $0.83/million at the moment which I guess is a lot more than gold sellers. It'll probably go up even more as bond prices go down. There are a lot of players buying them and I am concerned that it is only non-cheaters buying them.

This is exactly the same as the PLEX System used in EvE Online.

You can purchase a PLEX with real money, and this gives you an ingame item you can then sell on the market for GP (or ISK in eve) You can redeem the item for 30 days of ingame subscription time. Allowing ingame wealthy players to play a fully subscribed account without spending a penny in the real world.

The system works phenomenally well, and the economy ballances the £:ISK rate naturally over time (though for Bonds, the initial pricing will likely be a bit strange, it will settle)

In EvE it almost entirely undermines all Gold farming/selling and works exceptionally well and is a fantastic system to bring to RuneScape.

Remember Bonds do not introduce ANY GP into runescape, because the money you get for selling a bond, comes from another player. Meaning it only transfers ingame GP between players, but does NOT generate any fresh GP from thin air.

PLEX (in eve) is also often used to purchase fanfest tickets (like runefest) as well as rare special deals such as one where they partnered with Nvidia to allow players to purchase GTX 560 Graphics cards with PLEX (or bonds) meaning you could effectively buy a graphics card with GP!

They also make great official tournament prizes for PvP tournaments and such.

Good job Jagex on taking this sensible route!

Guys lets do ourselves a favor and look into the plex system used in EvE-online

1. This is RWT, no matter what you say.
2. I'm really angry that you use China for an example. I can say that there are more Chinese players than goldfarmers nowadays. As a honest Chinese player, I'm really angry about this.
3. Where's the DWARF QUEST??????????
