Microtransactions are good for business. But due to its availability, it can cause imbalances especially in competitive games. Runescape isn't exactly a competitive game.

EoC is an example of Java games with abilities with emphasis on accuracy and the effects of the combat triangle. A fixed tier system for equipment* aimed at bringing *balance*

Runescape 2 is an example of a Java game, with a thoughtful system of combat that had much potential for improvement especially the combat triangle and magic spells.

Runescape Classic is a step forward in Java games, combining its originality in a gaming world full of detail in fantasy, storylines, events, npc interaction, storytelling and a light social environment.

The mysterious old man and bob the cat, the mime, the rock golem, the river monster, the locusts and pirate pete, old general stores and certificates were examples of npc interaction. The plot of the quest Romeo and Juliet. Unfortunately all of these are now gone.
The certificate charge and the sleeping bag were removed earlier, because of critisim received for being a nuisance and making trade and combat inefficient in the game by bringing too many real aspects into the game.

I have been playing this game for almost 10 years. I quit for around 2006, then came back in late around 2009. During that time I went and played other MMO's due to burn out. I had only played the game for about a year. Around 2009, I came back to this game and noticed the vast changes. Graphics updated, the game became less harsh, and the sheer content that was provided amazed me. All of this for a low cost of just 5 dollars a month was an astronomically great deal.

I log in almost everyday and have for almost everyday since May of 2009. Sometimes life prevents me from logging in everyday but I always look forward to my wonderful return to Runescape. I am very proud to be part of this community, very proud to be part of this game, and am very glad that the game has gone in a positive direction since I left. When I think of Runescape I get excited because of how great this game is. When I think of Runescape I can't wait to play the game. This game is truly great, given you so much content and then allowing you to play it at your pace, in your time, and allows you to log in for only 15 minutes or 2 hours and you can still accomplish something.

Under your leadership the Runescape has become a game I love, under your leadership Runescape has flourished, and under your leadership Runescape has become a game I will forever cherrish. I have many moments in this browser based game that rank on my top 20 moments of playing video games. This is no small accomplishment as it competes with triple A blockbuster games and I have been playing games for over 2 decades. Some are even in the top 10.Mod MMG, you will be missed, missed by me, and the community, and the Runescape team. I was hoping to meet you at Runefest and thank you for all your hard work in person but it looks like I might not be able to do that. So, thank you. Thank you for your hard work, your dedication, and you passion that made Runescape great.

Really amusing this thread. Opinions are stated as facts. Number are pulled out of thin air. Players assume because they think one way it automatically means everyone thinks they do. People talk about game development who's full extent of interaction with game's extends no further then playing CoD for 5 hours a day. Yet speak as if they know everything about game developing business.

players glorify a family that actually in long run has done more damage to the game then EoC could ever do. Seriously Gower's short sighted planning made EoC an eventuality and have caused countless other issues in the game.

I can see why Mmg might want to quit. This community seems to be 50% decent players and 50% ass pulling nit wits. After what 7 years or more I'd get tired of it to. I'm a big entropy fan.

So who is pulling numbers out of thin air again? Oh yeahhh. YOU ARE. Fix your grammar and educate yourself fool. What's amusing is that MMG decides to resign AFTER dividing and segregating the RuneScape community, and introducing RWT THROUGH JaGeX. Forgot to mention those FACTS now did you? Again, educate yourself fool. Also to add; maybe if he actually gave "power to the players," we wouldn't be in this barely held-together-at-seams type of community. For the last time, EDUCATE YOURSELF FOOL.
