I have encountered a issue while trying to set-up the authenticator on my account. If anyone has experienced a similar issue, or knows how to help, any and all help is much appreciated!

I downloaded the recommended application (recommended by Jagex) for my android phone from the Google Play Store. I then proceeded to scan the code on the app, and it recognised the code no issue. I know this because it has my account name (Malthael IX) on the bottom of the page that generates random six digit numbers. The issue occurs when I try to input the six digit code for step three, and receive the following message:

"
Sorry, the code you entered was incorrect. Please try again. If you are sure you entered the correct code, please check the clock on your phone is set to the correct time.
"

My phone time used to be in the 24 hour format, but I changed it to the am/pm format the first time I received this message, to no success.
My question is what do they mean by "check the clock on your phone"?
What exactly am I suppose to be checking? If they need my phone and computer to have the same time, they do. I also checked the FAQ for the authenticator, but to no success.

If you can help me, you can respond to this thread or message me in game! Thanks ahead of time for the help!

What they mean by check your clock is whether the time on your phone and the time on google's server is the same (assuming you are using the google authenticator app). There is an option in the menu of the app to sync the time of your phone. Hope this helps with your problem. :)

I have no smartphone either

and i still think that JAG is good

But i have an idea

Make something that records your ip and if someone tries to log in from a different ip outside of a time frame and distance (i.e. Logging on in britain then logging on in Australia five minutes later) then it locks your account and sends an email with a button on it to your email account that, using the recovery questions can be used to unblock the account and it also prompts you to change your ********.

Possibly just a different way of doing JAG.

Hello i am CatParadise and i CANT! log in with uthenticator the code is not correct everytime so i can not play help me plz!

I had a similar Problem, Mod Rascasse walked me through it, i'll give you the same solution, Try changing your phone timing (or your computer's timing) to correctly match with your timezone, it could be off by a couple of minutes. Then, i tried a few codes first which were denied, but eventually one of them succeeded, i advise you to try a few codes, even if that doesn't work, let me know, i'll tweet it to Mod Rascasse. Or even you can tweet to him on @jagexrascasse
Thank you.

I'm disappointed because by still allowing people to use a system which is cumbersome and weak to social engineering we are losing developers time working on it and customer support staff responding to queries when they could all be doing more exciting and useful things.

Depreciate JAG, get people onto the superior system.

Try changing your phone time to match exactly with your Time zone, then try a few codes, even if they fail, continue in the process for some time. If you still receive an error, tweet to Mod Rascasse at twitter on @jagexrascasse.
Really hope this helps
Thank you.

Thank you very much for allowing JAG to stay for longer :) .

I will consider using the Authenticator once it add a special demand for Email Recovery, just like JAG did.
