I understand you think you are offering something wonderful to the players, but you should have at least polled us or made mention of this before as I was preparing to extend my account. I don't have a smartphone or cell and I don't intend to download anything like WinAuth to my computer as it is the only one I have. Maybe in your offices a lot of people have these smartphones but it should not be expected that your whole community has them. JAG was a fine option to protect my account and I took it when it was offered, but now am I just locked out unless I choose no security at all? Please reconsider allowing a choice better than this like JAG, The Auth. and none. If not, the last 3 years of playing everyday have just been wasted. Very tired of the non stop updating.

there are a lot of player's that play runescape and do not own a smartphone this is not a well thought out plan at all I have activated the authenticator but still I don't feel as safe as I did with Jagex guardian.

my advice is to keep jagex guardian active for player's that do not own a smartphone
that way every player is happy

if you truly want to understand why jamlex implement this just follow the money . of course they will deny deny deny that such a deal was made monetarily to promote these things for the companies involved.but think on it and ask has jagex ever lied or told half truths in the past

Seems like a waste of time to me, if I activate this, my Runescape account will have more security layers than my bank account!!! Also, Jag allows me to link a pc to my account permanently so why would I want to downgrade to something that only allows access for 30 days before needing re-authentication? Silly idea.

Personally I think the J.A.G guardian should stay... I agree with the other point people are making about no phones but J.A.G is working fine, it has been doing fine for the 2 years its been out so why change it? J.A.G is much better and its keeping your customers happy Jagex! have the decision of what they want to use!

The above quote basically says it all. Come on, Jagex! Not all people have smartphones or the ability to use more than one computer at a time! If you truly love your players, then you will NOT get rid of JAG.

+1. It's totally silly to REMOVE some security which, although far from perfects (it's actually quite bad, why not just offer a double auth with a confirmation e-mail?), works good enough. Security isn't just a piece of software, it's a whole process. To be adopted as much as possible, it needs to be CONVENIENT. Removing user choices is NOT CONVENIENT. The way to go is to add user choices. Add e-mail double auth, add SMS double auth, add that authenticator, add any other idea you may have: some people may hate it, but some others may find it fits their needs perfectly. Just don't _remove_ options.
