TIL that I am stereotypical RuneScaper but with slightly higher levels!

I really appreciate these MMG State of the Game updates!
My History: Started 2008. Big into House Parties. Averaged 15k XP/hour until 2010. 99 WCing from Yews and Magics '09. Bought Santa Hat with earnings. Hacked 1 month later, triggered my 4 year break. Came back to RS3. Fire '14. Con '14. Cooking '14. RC '15. Fletch '16.

yeah Hinyness I see your point really I do but would putting a whole lot of people on just a few worlds seriously increase the lag which actually before the microtransactions and eoc was the thing people complained about most! I remember the crowded monkey hunt worlds! Or the final challenge day of super september trying to find the golden gnome the lag was so bad it was almost impossible to tell where to click to find the monkeys or the golden gnomes! Not to mention the actual logging in process!
Sorry for such a late response, if you evencome back to this thread. The flaw in yourargument is that you are comparing apples and oranges. Cutting down the number of worlds, lets say half would make 200/2000 into 400/2000 players per worlds. The example you are talking about is what happens when hundreds of people try to log into a full world (2000/2000) which generates lag.

Your logic would only apply if jagex reduced the world count into 10.

Stop reporting things that no one cares about. And let us know what you are doing to fix the issues RS is having.
I think Mod MMG told us exactly how they are trying to stop bots from ruining the fun for us! And not only that, don't forget that they've now got power to the players, which basically let's us choose for the most important things in the game, isn't that countering alot of problems for RuneScape?
Power to the players is not all that its cracked up to be. When jagex polled if we should lower the amount of worlds the players voted no. Why? Why people voted "no" when there is only 200 per world on average? I don't trust that all player votes are for the good of the game.

Whoa! Hold on there, the players did vote for the good of the game. You seem unaware, if the servers are reduced the lag will increase. The worlds FAIL at 800/2000 users. This number continues to drop. If we removed servers the remaining worlds would quickly become unplayable. The players, through their own education and knowledge...have SAVED this game!
That is complete and utter BS! Places like W2 or the popular World event 2 worlds were always populated and had the least lag. I can go to world 2 right now and have no more lag than in any other world. AND I HAVE SHETTY INTERNET!

I actually start getting lag on every world that is above 1k users online... there is definitely something odd on the servers not acting like they did in the past(where we see this extremely obvious its during the bonus xp weekend events). So, you can't just say BS because you aren't experiencing it on a specific world, maybe your ISP favors that World Server #2 compared to other people - even though for me W2 is actually one of my lowest ping worlds... I still lag on it.

I believe Jagex should of worked on a system that built on the old style combatelements such as teamwork/timing/strategy etc.

I say: This would have avoided the actual problem (a boring, chance based click and wait combat system) and just add some extra moving around.

Incorporating an entirely new system and forcing it upon players.

I say: No one's forcing anyone to train combat, and no one is keeping them from playing old school.

Old style combat is what made Jagex famous, it is those players who provided Jagex income over several years.

I say: That's like saying that coca-cola should still have drugs in it, since that's what made it famous.

I grew up with Jagex being a company who didn't start out for the purposes of money - they did it out of passion (Gower brothers). Jagex carried on strong values that we're respected and appreciated by the community - until there was a change of direction in the company and we started seeing things such as microtransactions/greediness - It wasn't necessary and Jagex have suffered for these decisions.

I say: You're just being blind here. The purpose of having a company or service is to make money. Not to make people happy. Keeping people happy is just a by-product of a service. Microtransactions not only increase Jagex's income, but they keep membership prices down for everyone, even those who don't use the microtransactions.

Jagex we're so blinded by money. Players we're being ignored, decisions we're being made purely by management and not being influenced by players.

I say: I've played since 2006 and the recent polls added are the only time I've ever seen player's input make such a huge impact on the game. Eight years ago there some people upset over every single update, and there will be for eternity. You can't please everyone.

This is the best RS news announcement I have ever seen!!!

Thank you so very much for the extensive data collection. It brings great insight into the community itself and humanizes the actual playing time we spend. Good to know that most players still have lives outside of RS.

Happy gaming!
