Is it just me or the graphs on are very misleading and really stupid. You can clearly see that the biggest group of players are new accounts with less then 100 total. This is not a good thing, this shows that only a very small number of the new players stick around to level their accounts past 100 total.
This is not something to be proud of and you as a company should really consider why people started playing this game in the 1st place and why people are still sticking around.
Believe you misunderstood the chart. It was showing out of accounts made in each year, the percent of them that were certain total levels. The reason the two bars for the new players were so high in the under 100 range is because a high percentage of players who have started in 2014 fall in that range. The bars for earlier years were lower overall, because the percentages of players that fell into certain total level categories were better spread out, instead of having 90% of them in a single level range. It had nothing to do with the total amount of active players, besides relating their total levels to their date of account creation.

Then there is also the question about gold-farmers. The reason real world item-trading was against the rules was because it could be used by wealth people to get ahead. You have not stopped the problem with rwt you simply added a way for you to profit from it. When I started playing this game a long time ago this company believed in something and had principals. It would seem that all you care about today is money and that is the reason why you're loosing players instead of getting newer ones.
As far as this goes you have to consider bonds. Yes, you can purchase a bond with real money, and then trade it for rsgp. But you also have to consider that the person who is buying it is buying it to convert it either into membership, runecoins, or spins. All of these are things that Jagex offers to sell for real cash, but it is allowing those with low real life funds, and higher runescape funds, to still be able to pay for and enjoy the same things, using different methods appropriate to their situation. You also have to consider that the tradeoff to rsgp/dollar when buying a bond with the intent of selling is not very good at all, unless you literally have unlimited funds. Back when gold farmers and sellers were more prominent, they sold rsgp for a fraction of the price that bonds cost. So pretty much anyone with a few dollars could be instantly richer. There was also the risk of illegitimate services that compromised account security and THAT is the main problem with real world trading. Compromised security and high-risk, and it gives no profit to the people that actually put their time and effort into creating the game we all enjoy.

As many males as I have met pretending to be females on this video-game,
That 16% seems far too accurate, TBH.
Kind of curious though why this research for gender was done...
And also, how it was done...
It's like starting a poll in a boys locker room with no females allowed.
This is not a dating site.

Just wanted to say that I really enjoyed being able to see some of the statistical data, and would like to request more information like this to be released in future where applicable. Things like average xp/week or xp/day gained and things of that nature that are not really able to be obtained from highscores would be nice to be able to see. Thanks also for trying to clarify the game's situation.
Agreed! The more of this I can get, the better! Awesome, MMG, just awesome!
This is one of the first times in years I've been truly (pleasantly)
astonished
by anything Jagex has done
outside
of the game!
MMMMOOOOAAAARRRR!!!!
I Would have thought that you being around since at least 07 you would know
that MMG either makes stats and comments up as he goes along to make
himself look good to the new players who with respect don't know that this
is the guy who manipulates figures/comments makes promises that are broken
and has disregarded LOYALTY for a quick penny he can make.
I for one do not believe a word he says since his 9/10 rant that players love
the SOF , Which along with EOC has lost 10.000's of players.
Which regarding the EOC he has just realised his Fail so comes on here
kissing up to players he cares nothing about unless they are filling his wallet.
The naming of hours played by the top 3 is a massive breach of confidentiality
if they never authoriserd it, leaving them to more ridicule than they already get.
The sooner he goes the better or Runescape will cease to exist.
.And now the end is near its time to raise the final curtain.
Regrets i have a few, but i did it my way.

The stats are pretty interesting. I would love more stats to be released.
I am also curious, like someone stated earlier, how they calculated the male/female ratio. Avatar type would be the worst method ever conceived. Linked facebook accounts maybe?
OH well, thanks for the update. I have noticed a significantly lower number of players occupying worlds for a while now. Figured it was attributable to a decrease in bots present.
I do like his address of the combat system; although, I don't agree with the backtracking.
I always thought I was pretty low leveled for having played on this account since 2007 and having a total level of 2070, but I'm actually smack bang in the middle of the average

"(Gender & Age statistics based on a world wide survey we commissioned of tens of thousands of players)."
They got an external firm to survey a random sample of players. The displayed stats are extrapolated from this sample.

Net result? Concurrent players is as high over recent months as it was a year prior, with more players returning to RuneScape and thousands of new players joining our amazing community than at any time in the last year. We’ve even seen counter seasonal positive growth the past quarter.
I wonder how many of those were due to the untold 'penny membership' offers that were sent out and how many are as a result of indirect gold selling through bonds.
