I don't particularly like the P.R. side of Runescape. Most of these 'triumphs' explained came with a great cost, one which Jagex must be too prideful to expose the negative side. Bonds might have blown back RWT'ing in the smallest aspect, but I find it hard to believe it was worth the cost of undermining an entire community of gamers.

More quests is a definite concern. I hope this is cared for asap.

Listen, Jagex. The fact that 90% of Runescapers now are non PvP'ers, I find it hard to get back your old community. Especially with EoC. That was the final nail in the coffin for many. I still play this game, and enjoy EoC to an extent, but the fact the EoC only shines brightly for PvM content is dissapointing. The PvP side of the EoC is too confusing, and scares many away. I used to PvP before EoC and all I had to do was watch my health, look for moments to strike and the combat was automatic. Now, I see myself having to stare at my opponents buffs, memorize my ability bar, watch my health, beware of stuns and time stuns correctly, with the appropriate follow up, worry about 'smash' and prayers constantly. Point is, it's too confusing.

An evolution of combat didn't mean it had to evolve into a generic (and fairly lower quality) ability bar seen on many games. Jagex didn't innovate here, they just seem to have copied the medium from other games. Evolution of combat couldn't been more armor, better smithable weapons and new inventions for combat. It could have meant more game modes with PvP such as team deathmatches. It could have meant implementation of squads which don't allow you to attack eachother. (This would have made group PvP'ing alot safer, encouraging, etc) There are hundreds of things you could have done to improve PvP, but the ability bar system in my opinion must go. It's too confusing, and from a former PvP'er, I don't even want to PvP now.

I couldn't agree more.

I, too, used to PvP, but nowadays it's just too much. RuneScape used to be relaxing, a breath of fresh air... Lately, though, I've felt the game to be a source of stress. The EoC truly has taken away from the simplistic gaming-style that made RuneScape what is was. Also, new updates (such as limited-time SoF offers) are only adding to the stress and confusion of the game. Especially with Jagex's new favorite event style, we're repeatedly being pushed into grinding out limited-time events in order to collect all of the rewards. It's just a bit strange, really. Maybe I should begin playing Oldschool RuneScape.

In my honest opinion 2013 was probably the worst year in RuneScape history.

I have been playing for 10 years and this is the first year where I could not continue playing.

Flurries upon flurries of SOF updates, Jagex "beating RWTs" by selling gold themselves, The EoC which completely ruined PvP and was the main reason for the decline of RuneScape. It's no secret that the EoC lead to a HUGE decline in players. Jagex knows this. And what confuses me is why they do not at least run a poll on the front page like they did with the return of free trade to see what players thought of it. After all, our memberships do pay to keep this game going, I don't see why they aren't important to Jagex. There would be no harm in simply running a poll with no promise of any change just to see players stances on the current state of the game. When they did the return of free trade poll, an astonishing number of people voted in favor of it, and the update was a huge success, it revived a large bit of the Runescape community and brought in many new members and made the game much more enjoyable for everyone.

Please Jagex listen to what your players want. It will be more profitable for the company, and more enjoyable for the entire runescape population. It's a win-win for everyone.

Kind of so so year. Was not year of player for sure.
What we got few but good qeusts but still people really wanted couple more.
Eoc is still not pvp friendly and most people dislike stuns as killing method..
Many hoped that weapon specails will return in some way or another but they did not..
End gamers got alot awesome content but midgamers were totaly forgoten and few old boses were even buffed to adjust to new end game power.
Sof promos went crazy right at end of year...
Really hoping for old minigame rescaling and eoc inprovments and quests next year.

Bots got removed and bonds turned p2p in f2p and most ppl enjoyed nis overall... but rs3 without html5 never really came..
We1 was pretty fail and we2 still lacks at balance and scaling...

Merry christmass guys..
Rs scks because nothing to do

2013 was a great year!
Here are a few things i remember about 2013
Pros: Amazing new quests, player owned ports, new bosses, world events.
Cons: PvP minigames are all dead, nobody seems to like PvP (i love PvP) and GUTHIX DIED.

There are many things that were really good in 2013 and there were some that were bad. People just have to get used to the fact that they won't like everything you guys come up with. I will support you jagex in whatever you do to this game because its YOUR game. It is good to put in things that the community wants but its also good to surprise us with awesome stuff we weren't expecting. Great year jagex, well done.

Merry Christmas. :D
