What about those members who pay $5/month?? They're getting ripped off by $26.50 if they buy the Gold membership that is $86.50/yr.

$5/month = $60/yr.
$86.50/yr. = *7.20/month

Does it look like there's something wrong with this?? Yes, it's not fair to senior members who haven't let their membership relapse. I'm not buying for that simple reason. I'm not getting ripped off when I've been a member for 6 yrs. and locked into a $5/m membership.

Jagex please address this.

They didn't address this last year so why should they this year? They don't care about those of us with the grandfathered price. They just want money from the idiots willing to pay for this crap.

Last year it was 75 bucks, so only $15 more for the year for those of us locked at $5/month. So it was basically 2000 Runecoins for $15. That, to me, was a good deal. That's why I bought it.

This one is $26 more for some useless Loyalty points, which I already have like 300k unspent ones. If they included the 2k Runecoins again, then I'd see the value and would buy it. But I guess Jagex doesn't want my money...

I like the premier club idea... just the Runescape billing system says I have a 1 month member subscription instead of gold so it is a little confusing. Would be nice if that could say what subscription is actually running right now :)

Ninja Edit:/ To those complaining about the price, the gold package is a 10% saving.

No it isn't. I pay $5 per month for membership, so a year (12 months) is $60 for me.

The $86 for the gold package is considerably more expensive than $60.

Hello, I am seriously interested in getting some promotional items from 2012. My favorite one is the lightning staff i wanted it but my prepaid card didnt even work. Jagex if you are reading this can you please bring it up. I know it may seem unfair to those who actually got it on time, but looking on the brightside, at least we will be turning discontinued items into recontinued items. I really want a lightning staff!!!!!!

I find the reasoning a bit off. I know that game companies DO need to raise prices in order to compete with the rest of the gaming world, but why the $12 increase for 1-year of membership. Not to mention 150k loyalty points WILL NOT and DOES NOT equal 2k Runecoins. Add on the fact that those that have the still-running 2013 Gold Premium already have a bunch of gamecard items and specialities.

With all this combined, I think we're getting a lesser deal than we got last year. Why>?? I'm puzzled.
I hope you will offer us more than just one alpha, two betas, a few promotional items, and three newsletters for this pricey $86.50.

I ran some numbers on the Gold Package so here's what I found using American dollar bills and current prices:

2013 Gold Premiere
Price: $86.50
12 mo membership. (74.95 value, discounted bulk package 12 mo)
150000 loyalty points, a value of at least 396 runecoins to at most 703. (9.99 to 19.99, 400:800 coin package respectively)
2 pets.
Bonus SoF spin per day, 365 days. (equivalent to 99.96, 1 x100 2 x40 1 x20 packages)
VIP World.
VIP Chat Badge.
VIP Forum Badge.
2013/14 Promo Items.
____________________________________________________
So for $11.55, the gold package offers: 9.99 worth of runecoins, 99.96 worth of spins (spread over a year), VIP server, badges, pets, and promotional items.

2012 Gold Premiere
Price: *74.95
12 mo membership. (74.95 value, discounted bulk package 12 mo)
Bonus SoF spin per day, 365 days. (equivalent to 99.96, 1 x100 2 x40 1 x20 packages)
Priority Beta Access.
Paladin Outfit.
2000 runecoins valued at 49.97 (2 x800 1 x400 packages.)
Cosmetic items.
Quarterly newsletter.
Jagex HQ trip prize draw entry.
____________________________________________________
So for $11.55 more than last year, we're getting a lesser value. More so if you are a returning Gold Member.

* I didn't mention the Q&A opportunities because they don't matter to me, thus provide $0 value.
** Loyalty Points are not interchangeable to runecoins, but for monetary purposes I pulled their value using the highest and lowest ratio of items that can be bought with either. These were 213.33 & 386.66
*** Pets, VIP badges, & VIP server worth notwithstanding.

Still a lot of money upfront for mostly vanity items. I want a custom package. The bonus spins and the VIP access. That is all I really care about. Don't even care about the badge.

Two years ago I paid $5.95 per month for membership which means *71.40 per year. The gold membership was a
CHEAPER
*75.00. Okay, so I paid 3.60 extra dollars for all the benefits.

But now the price increases to $85.99? How is this any cheaper than paying $5.95 monthly? Is the $5.95 monthly rate still valid? I have no idea. I didn't pay anything since last January.

I'm considering bonds or going back to monthly payments. I don't like the idea of VIP worlds. Good thing I have until ..... to decide?

Until when to I have to decide?

if you really think about it, jagex are playing this really smart, although still a **** move.

- First jagex introduces a terrible yearly membership offer (some people will buy it, others will question it like we are now)

- They then announce that it will be buy-able with bonds in the near future, Thus causing a demand for bonds because people would rather spend the hilariously large amounts of cash in game on the membership than the hilariously large real life price tag.

- The people buying bonds to sell for gold (gold buying scum) will start buying more bonds because they are getting more GP to the dollar/pound/whatever.

- The rich community will spend these on membership

It is easy to forget that although you are not paying for something when you buy with a bond, jagex are making a much larger margin for every bond redeemed compared to the actual value of the thing in question (spins, membership, runecoins). So yes... all in all, the poor folks of rs get screwed.... unless of course they buy it with irl money*

**; DR

Jagex set the irl value of the membership way too high because they would rather people buy it with bonds because they make WAY more money when people use bonds.

I didn't say this when bonds were released, but I am actually really impressed (without trying to sound really condescending) with the economic impact they have on your company, without affecting the economy in game. (p.s. this isn't me saying i approve of this money grabbing scheme or the price tag of the membership)

----------------------------------------------

I guess this is also the reason you guys wouldn't add runecoins into the mix EVEN THOUGH they are a completely VIRTUAL currency and are spent on VIRTUAL items that wouldn't cost the company ANYTHING to sweeten the deal. But like i mentioned earlier, they don't WANT to sweeten the deal, they want it to be as unappealing as possibly without making it obvious.

Well that's pretty much all i have to say. ty
