This is something I hate.

Player 1: "some people want to prestige"
Player 2: "But I DONT WANT TO!"
Player 1: "you don't have to, it's totally optional"
Player 2: "But if other people chose to do that extra work and DO prestige I will lose my rank on the highscores!"

1).. "Good. If you want to take the easy way out and disallow other players from even having a CHANCE to raise themselves in the high scores, you don't deserve a high rank. Any truly competitive player would be ok with continuously proving he/she is the best at something. They wouldn't keep others from even having a chance (which is what the current system does because at 200 mil you get locked in and can't be moved, or get higher yourself.

The fact is, players who simply started earlier are bound to reach 200 mil first. The great player in runescape of all time could start playing, and look forward onto the high scores and say ....' the best i can be is number 2758' because the top scores are already locked. That's silly.

Everyone should have a chance to reach the top. If you are on the top and feel threatened that you will be passed, either prove your worth of being up there still, or let yourself be passed. You don't deserve to stay on top. With seasonal high scores and the old high scores still being accessible, you will be able to shine in those ways, and you will still have on record when you got 200 mil yourself. But let everyone have a chance.

Voting "yes" is the obvious good choice for the GAME.

You're right, but most people would want some sort of ending. Prestige will give NO end to gain XP. While I think it will allow hard working people to get into the hiscores, what will their goals be? Skilling and Prestiging until you die or stop playing? There has to be some sort of goal, or end to skilling.

First of all, I really respect you guys who get to/have to sort through all these messages.

Don't totally scrap the idea. But please keep in mind that SOME of the people who are so excited to get onto the hi-scores may be the very people who've been buying materials to gain levels quickly with amounts of money that seem suspicious to me (though I'm not much of a pk'er or boss'er and have amassed my wad slowly). Are those who've abused the system really people to be rewarded?

In reading quite a few pages of this thread, I also became aware that some people might be skipping quests in order to reach 99s faster. Really? Please require people to do quests and use other parts of the game (mini-games, unlock all the lodestones, etc.) to earn the privilege of prestige or put an asterisk next to them.

I think it would be fair to give multiple prestige levels from the beginning to those who've earned them - as long as they're willing to take the same layer multiplied delays in training. (I'd suggest lowering the multipliers that slow them down though - maybe an additional 2-10% per prestige layer. 100% additional for each layer is just excessive.)

As for the mini-games, many are good games, just overlooked and underplayed because there's been so much development in the overall game and there are SO MANY things to choose from - a good thing.
I'd really rather have hi-scores for each mini-game rather than prestige levels.
This would help reactivate good minis, and since most already have points and rewards you'd just tweak the capes or gear to highlight someone, or the top 10 someones, at the top of that game's hi-score for the next term & restart it every month or quarter to prevent the bunching problem that is creating the current disputes. I honestly thought we'd have seen more of this already as a regular part of seasonal hi-scores. It might also satisfy some of the people who have a desire to be at the top of a board.

i don't want that system added to the the game.. i have worked a lot of hours getting my lvls high, and don't wanna have to do them all over again.. plz don't add it... their should be another way to attac new players.... i don't think this is the way.. this would upset a lot of players including me, that took a lot of hours to lvl their characters.

i voted no

Master RS Forever: [wrote] YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES

Prestige please, I would be overjoyed with the ability to re-train cooking/fletching/fishing/firemaking/divination/hunter.

I really hope this gets implemented, and if it is somehow a comp/trim req to prestige once, that'd be awesome too.

Great idea from the Jagex team, stimulates the economy and makes us appreciate the lower levelled content all over again from the glory days. I won't wanna retain any of my skills are u nuts?

I voted yes. Nobody is forced to use the prestige system. I think this update is nice for players that enjoy certain skills and want to level them several times like myself. While going for experience I feel as if there is no goal, no milestones, that's not very fun to me. And as I mentioned previously, nobody is being forced to use this system, it is purely optional. Similar to the release of RS2007. Nobody was forced to play on the 07 servers, and nobody will be forced to use the prestige system.

Also, it appears that many users don't understand the potential update. Once you reset a skill you are not stuck with that low level, so you are not "reseting all your progress" you can revert to your original 99. It also sounds like prestige experience gained goes towards your overall total of 200m in a given skill.

I read comments about how this will effect the economy and making it hard to mid level players to reach any 99s because everything will be more expensive. But this kind of makes everyone forget the main thing on training skills: you train something where you get money, you sell it and use the money on some skill that takes money to level up. Mid level players will get the same resources that are pricing up and can make more money with that. Ofcourse this thing will inflate the economy, but can you blame the system as you live in real life?

About the prestige itself, it does sound good to me as it stands, and if you are about to make it even better I don't mind at all. Do you players even want this game to "end" and by this I mean that one wouldn't have anything to goal for, only the social part? Sure the content will be there but I doubt that anybody wanted to be at the same state as the only player (S U O M I) who achieved this "goalless" status, when the game would end until a new quest or a skill would be released over and over again. And if you would like to end this game some day, then don't use the prestige system! This game needs to be updated continuously so that players like you would have something to play and not get bored of it.

As with the pressure thing, those who feel that way should accept that they are addicted to this game and want to play it Q.E.D. Be happy about the fact that you have more to be addicted to as the game expands.

Sincerely Yours
Yes
