I think it's a great idea. In games like Call of Duty when it meant absolutely nothing what your level was, it just showed that people had no lives. This, while it does the same, does give the feeling of continual growth and development. My only suggestion is to make something in-game (even if it's only cosmetic) that can only be unlocked by further prestige levels. That way, people have something to work toward rather than being able to say "Hey, I can finally smith a rune kiteshield... Again!"

I personally believe the current high score system to be essentially meaningless for the majority of players, given how many people play this game. No matter what you do - unless you're right at the top - I can't see any value is seeing your "rank". Similarly, given the large player base, I would think the same thing would happen with prestige. There could be some really tangible incentive other than just a score (I'm not sure what that would be) - but, if so, the same thing could be applied to the current system. So, in the end, I see no purpose being prestige at all.

I'd much rather see some things implemented to *really* distinguish one player from another - rather than just skill levels or costumes worn. Perhaps something along the lines of the ability to give your character overall boosts in one side of the combat triangle at the expense of others. Or just anything to say "I chose to take this path with my character, as opposed to others."

Other ideas. In game "blogs" or some other way of being able to write a story about your character that others can see. (Perhaps a plaque attached to your POH with a message you can modify and others can read.) Or informational text that can be accessed with clicking on a character.

There are a lot of things that could be done to make one person stand out from another person. Implementing prestige serves no purpose - it's just "more of the same", adding on another layer to an already ineffective high score system.

Too many people voting no just to keep their place on an outdated, broken 200m leaderboard. Complain about bonds, complain about eoc...tbh I'm going back to looking for a new game who are going to be innovative. Pretty much only the old grinding players left here who are still clinging to maxed level or 200m in a skill. That stuff doesn't last forever anyway and will only lead to the game becoming stale for any new player. Enjoy the greed and selfishness, it's only going to lead to even less fresh players coming into the game.

Seriously, I have seen some of the worst excuses for not adding prestige...I now truly regret coming back to this game recently.

Hope those who voted no will enjoy the stale, broken 200m leaderboards. May they have fun grinding the same small end-game content for highest levels/exp rate and leave the rest of the game content barren and dead.

And lol at jagex thinking they can get 75% of the community to agree on anything at all.

Btw...if say 97% of the community votes "NO" for prestige...and say 78% vote "yes"...does the yes percentage outway the no's just because the yes votes reached over 75%?

That's not quite how percentages work. If 97% out of the 100% that is the entire community vote for no, then only 3% would've voted yes.
As long as 26% of the community says no, this update isn't happening. And for good reason.

For all those voting "NO" on prestige...take head to this warning...Jagex could very well implement this update if more than 75% vote yes and 98% vote no...which makes this whole voting thing a double edge sword!

That's not how math works.
