So let me get this straight. An update that involves players spending more money via RWTing or membership gets a newspost because it's delayed for "a day or so".

Meanwhile, how many countless actual content updates like new skills, combat updates, quests, etc. have been delayed for weeks on end with no word as to why or when we'll actually get them?

Quality customer service Jagex. Only when money is involved do you care.

+1

Agree, especially with the new skills.

Divination was planned to come out at the start of summer this year. The 2nd skill was supposed to be out in the 2nd half of the year.

Divination got delayed to last week (end of summer), and the 2nd skill is being delayed till next year sometime (could be anytime).

I have not seen anywhere where JaGex have explained why this is or have issued an apology.

High horses, lol.

I'm sorry but I must have forgotten the bit where if the players of this game didn't exist there wouldn't be any updates to be had, or any delays to worry about.

I must have forgotten that other bit where the money from my bank goes out when I deem it necessary and it flows through magical money tubes into their gold reserve, and contributes towards their everyday living.

I must have forgotten that bit where - "The customer is always right" is some long gone statement of yore. Where unless the customer is rambling about something not related to the company/product/whatever, they should be treated like family.

They look at people as though they are just dollar signs. Treating the people like that and caring about nothing else save the contents of their wallet or purse inevitably makes those dollar signs puff into smoke. Then they face the reality that poor care for a service paid for leads to loss of income.

Children, children.......calm down :D

Everyone bashing why they could not tell sooner etc...... Did it not occur to you that they tried to get it done today, but realized it was not going to happen at a later stage?

For example:

At noon they realized there was a problem......should they immediately tell us it is delayed? Or when they notice a problem at noon, they don't communicate because they hope to get it fixed so they can release today. So whilst trying to fix it, it became later and later, and at one point they realized it is not going to happen and then informed us.

The only thing that is relevant is that they informed us. What time of day is not relevant. Remember, it is not set in stone when updates occur! They try to do it today, but alas, it is tomorrow (or maybe even Thursday, depending what the issue is). So please dismount from your high horses and come down to earth ;)

So that's why the hid the banner saying it would be out today? Then didn't make a post about it for another two hours?

No they knew there was a delay, the obviously knew it wasn't going to be out today as they took the banner down. And then they proceeded to Jagex us with their patented Lack of Communication.

And you can say updates are not set in stone, then perhaps Jagex could not make big flashy banners on the main page stating things will be out on a certain day.

Again, I'm not irritated for the update delay, I could care less about it really. Good for them delaying a MTS update because of bugs, even though they release everything else riddled with them. Thats not the issue, its communication.

And as a side note, calling everyone children, then finishing your post by telling people to dismount their high horses makes you look a tad foolish. Work on that please. Criticizing people's posts without actually reading them seems to be becoming a fad.

EDIT: @ Wacky.

Well of course, that will cut down on spending for next month.

I completely agree with High Priestess Anon Troll.

Jagex force-feeds moneygrabbing assets at us, and when they finally have the decency to give us some items in Solomon's Store without having us waste real money, Jagex backs out and goes "LOL JUST KIDDING GUYS. YOU HAVE TO WAIT EVEN LONGER ROFL."

It IS bloody disgusting that we're being treated like this.

I don't think they took any correct approach whatsoever.

Just because they make a post preemptively to state that the update is pushed back by some amount of time doesn't mean they *have* to state that specific amount of time.

Fact of the matter is that they reached out and let everyone know that regardless of how it goes down there is going to be some form of a delay. This; in turn, saves the creation of countless amounts of player-only visited threads asking the same exact question over and over again: (no less causing influxes of FMod interceptions and locks, making the situation even more ridiculous than it would have been had a JMod message been posted to begin with)

"When is the update?"

Is it so wrong or hard to answer the question? Even if they're off, you know what? They answered the damn question to the best of their ability. They didn't hold it off until it was so obvious that the update wouldn't be occurring today. They answered it.

Is customer service and communication such a bad thing? Having an answer that's off by a bit is better to me than not answering at all. Not answering until player frustration warrants it to shut them up seems incredibly childish to me.

Here is what the problem really is.

It is the banner announcing the release of this update on August 27.

The old Jagex would have released an update when it was ready (with the small bugs as would be expected), and the players would be happy with the new content added to their game. The old Jagex would NEVER have put up a banner like this prior to a release of new content stating a specific day in advance.

The new Jagex puts up banners like this and it just asks for trouble. This has everything to do with the fact that Jagex is no longer a small company started by brothers making a game in their room. It is now a corporate owned company. The corporation wants banners like this, and it is in direct conflict with the staff making this game to hold true to not releasing content until it is READY.

RS3 was not ready, yet it was released anyway, at least this time the good folks making the game did what they needed to do and did not release today's content, which was not ready.

My suggestion to Jagex: throw these exact date banners in the rubbish pile.
