The "rarest" butterfly would imply that there are more than one butterfly... So I think that it isn't necessarily Guthix. I think that one of the followers of Guthix (the dragonkin) would be the one being chased after then. Since the dragonkin already proved their superiority over Lucien, who was one of the most powerful Mahjarrat, they will need the help of the gods to stop the dragonkin. Maybe the dragonkin got hold of another powerful artifact, such as the Staff of Armadyl and are trying to achieve godhood so they can break away from the gods. Death could be fighting against something that is near godhood. Maybe the dragonkin are trying to get rid of the other gods because they fight and can upset the balance (nature).

Perhaps adamant dragons will be released with this update along with a new powerful item...

All Jagex has said is that Zaros lost his favor and faded from Gielinor. Faded could mean numerous of things. Fading doesn't imply that Zaros ever went to another plane , only that his presence on Gielinor wasn't strong, much like the Kharshai and the mahjarrat. That is one of the main reasons why many can assume that Zaros might be on the return. When doing the nadir saga, Bilrach is shown insane and has two distinct different views. At one point he calls below a Prison and at another time he calls it a fortress

One thing i find very interesting is that all floors have portals within them. Also when jagex updated the equipment at God wars, they added books and it is known (from the book that nex drops) that virtus had extensive knowledge of portals and it interested zaros and nex very much
