I'm not sure how you get away with showing a supposedly new RS3 in glorious HTML5 when in fact HTML5 is / has been delayed.
I was expecting bugs. I got bugs.
I was expecting daily patch notes. I got.... conned again.
Sadly, and it shouldn't be the case with all the innovative ideas floating around, I am feeling less inclined to log in and play each day. I think management must be in denial because the NIS (while I like it) is so glitched it's way past laughable. It doesn't do what it says on the box and it can't even remember what you tell it to do between mini games yet alone between sessions. Worst of all, it has the ability to go completely teats up by simply typing some conversational text to a friend (or the world at large) and there generally isn't time to recover from this during combat.
The new login page reminds me of when I first played Oblivion. The RS3 graphics aren't as good but the music score makes up for that entirely. It looks very much like a new dawn, full 50 fps and enticing sounds in my ears - until I log in that is.
The audio becomes almost inaudible, fps crashes, the game is juddery. There is nothing essentially new enough here to call this RS3. A missed opportunity I fear.
Then I have to load my preset, then I have to reset the keyboard sensitivity - which in turn messes up the audio even further (Is there any particular reason why all the sliders have an affinity with eachother other that poor code?) before finally dragging the blue overlay to where I last left it. Now I can start to alter the friends list curtains and once again set my profanity filters to my choice and start to play - arghh!! lag spike!! Booted to login. Now start the whole procedure once more.
Are you quite sure this is a step forward? Oh, and I forgot to mention. Even though I'm running a quad core and dedicated 800hz graphics with matched 4gb memory I need to run on Low Settings to achieve 12 fps. Yep, best update ever, Jagex. Now, please wake up..!!
