First of, RS3 is ok. I love the lag improvements, that's a giant one for me, the increased screen size(see more at one time) is welcome, and a new engine to make the game smoother is nice. I like the changes you guys did to the games code. It feels smoother, runs better, and looks nice.
With that said, Id like to point this stuff out. Battle of Lumbridge is a nice step, but I don't think its a good one. The idea is nice, choose a side, wage multi month wars. I like that you guys are trying to stir the pot, but I don't like you guys mixing in well used ingredients. Planetside2, WoW, Rift, so many games are having this same gameplay idea, but the other games know it needs to be a side course, not a main event. And even though its a world waking event, it takes a small part of the map, and even then it doesn't offer that much to the player. It seems like you wanted to put something bizarre in, not something fun, or good, just bizarre to be new and weird (which is the exact opposite of what makes runescape fun for me).
The new lumbridge castle voting is a great touch. It has been a while since I felt my voice was affecting runescape. That opening cinematic was epic. It's not the best looking, but you guys used your materials well this time. I was staring at the screen in practical awe as sara and zamy cracked the world asunder.
To finish this off, I like RS3's direction, but not the execution. The battle of lumbridge event is ok, but it could have been spun a lot better, I feel like you could have quested before it, or some warm-up, instead of just crammed in there ( some guy asked for polished buttons but couldn't find the H.A.M. hideout under the battle of lumbridge). I feel like recently you guys are adding stuff into runescape to add stuff into runescape , instead of adding stuff to make the game more fun. I played this game for a while, and I am serious when I say, I come here to taste runescape, not WoW or Rift. Please keep rs your flavor, not WoW's or Rift's
