Going off that list, I count 32 game updates from Jan 2013-Jun 2013 that were not SoF/SGS related, and 24 SoF/SGS-related updates.

You don't get it. A great deal of these updates do not affect the live game, which is what players are looking for.

3 January - God Statues
14 January - Kalphite King
28 January - Demon Flash Mobs
5 February - Sinkholes, Evolution of Combat Improvements
15 February -Old School RuneScape... You Vote!
18 February - Try the RuneScape Bestiary
4 March - The World Wakes, Combat Updates, Free Game Changes and More Mobility
12 March - Tribute to Guthix and New Combat Abilities
25 March - Wilderness Warbands
2 April - Dungeoneering Dual Wielding and Charming Imp
3 April - RuneScape Beta Programme: Registration Open
9 April - Castle Wars: Revamped
16 April - Duel Arena: Go Forth and Duel
17 April: RuneScape 3 Beta Programme: Now Live
24 April: Charm Sprites: Catch Them If You Can!
29 April: RuneScape Beta Programme: Progress Update
30 April: Instanced God Wars & EoC Updates
3 May: Continuation Quest Poll Results
13 May: The Nexus
16 May: New Interface System Alpha Update
20 May: Harvest Heaven: High-Level Farming
29 May: God Emissaries
31 May: New Interface System Members' Beta
4 June: Order of Ascension
11 June: Triskelion Treasures
15 June: NIS Beta: Customisable Keybinds
17 June: Your Feedback Implemented!
24 June: Far and Wide: Transport Update
27 June: The New Interface System Enters Open Beta

So the RS Wiki considers the NIS beta stages as game updates. But players don't see it that way. They just go ''This month has only Nexus, Emissaries and High Level Farming? What a lousy month!'' And this also ties in with what I said about them mixing in other updates to make it look as though SoF is not dominating the news feed.

Even then, there's something you didn't address.

Do note how each day for the most part only has one major update or one major update and a small number of improvements. This will become important in the next post.

(snip)

...note how a few times, there were multiple updates in one day. The Easter Event and Rag and Bone Man, a new boss (Chaos Elemental) + a new Slayer monster (Killerwatts) + a brand new activity (Treasure Trails). In this day and age, if Jagex were to release similar updates, all of those individual pieces of content would probably end up releasing during separate weeks. Hell, February 20th's 2006 update would probably encompass the entire freaking month. And that month had TWO additional quests.

Case and point. Jagex is deliberately spreading out updates, or at the very least, slowing the rate of updates.

Again, that refutes your point that SoF/SGS updates outnumber non-SoF/SGS updates.

?

Where did I say SoF/SGS updates outnumbered other updates? The nearest thing I could find was this:

He promised, also in January, that SoF would not dominate the news feed so much and that SoF would not have a promotion without an actual game update on the same week. What we've gotten is that we've had events mixed into the news feed (RS3 beta, OSRS vote and release, Runescape Music Competition, etc.) so as to give the illusion that the SoF presence is not overwhelming when the SoF-game update ratio has not changed. As for game updates, they deliberately spread them out, in one case overhyping a patch note update into an actual game update (Toolbelt upgrade) so as to accommodate as many SoF promotions as possible.

I have a mid-term assignment to complete by Monday, so I won't be able to afford the time to actually calculate the SoF to game update ratio.

All I hear in that is a bunch of whining.

If you think that people use swear words just to whine, that's your problem.

Feather: exchange market price: 16. Store price: 6.
Water vials: exchange market price: 36. Store price: 10 each singly, 5 each when bought in a pack.

I can't believe I'm even having to explain this to you. Do you actually play the game?

As you mentioned before, the game is meant to be convenient to both existing and new players.

Poletax's shop already sells 2,000 vials of water in noted form. Aemad's shop, which sells 300, is relatively close to a commonly used lodestone, so let's add that in.

The others (Sigmund in Rellekka, Obli in Shilo Village, and Jossik in the Lighthouse) all require quests and sell a total of 1,600 vials of water.

If I buy 2,300 vials of water from Poletax and Aemad, and 1,600 off the GE, I have to spend 69.1k. If I buy the 1,600 off the others, I spend 19.5k, but spend roughly 5-10 mins having to walk/teleport to these places. That's a difference of 49,600 GeePee.

50k is small change. Low levels can earn that easily by doing tasks (1,024 GeePee per task), mid levels get 3-4k per small cash bag off the Squeal of Fortune.

And what if I plan to buy more than 3,900 vials of water, which means that I have to go to the GE anyway? Would it make more sense to waste time making individual trips to all these places, or to just buy all the vials needed at one go?

Does it make sense to make regular trips every few hours to these far flung places, just to save a five digit sum of GeePee?

Edit: The buy limit is 10,000 in four hours, IIRC. Poletax restocks 2,000 every week. If you're power levelling herblore, would you wait weeks to gather vials?

And again, just because something is not meaningful to you doesn't mean it's not meaningful to others.

Lol.

Edit: Finished my classes, so I'll continue.

Fair enough, but still seems a silly reason to OMGBBQ rage quit, IMO.

It's things like this that wear down people's patience. And then something else pushes them over the edge. Another irritant I used to have was that annoying blank quest tab last year.

*shrug* The NIS was in beta for nearly two months before the release of RS3. The opportunity was there to test it out and learn about it. (Even if you didn't go into the beta, the Forums were a veritable gold mine of information.) The information was there, it was your choice to access it or not. It's not like Jagex sprung the NIS on us without warning, after all. Complaining about not understanding it is like complaining about not understanding how the leveling up process works when you first start playing the game. Silly. IMO.

Beta testing is exp waste, y'know. I'm trying to say that it's not easy, and a lot of people did have difficulties.

As for the forums... are you aware just how many players are not even aware that a forum exists, let alone view the forums?

I have six IRL friends who have played Runescape at one point or another. None of them have ever visited the forums before.

As for me, my first time on the forums was in July last year, when I went to Account Help to seek help for my friend who was scammed by a ''merching recruiter''. I mentioned him earlier.

As for the server issues, that stinks. However I am wondering if, like many other people, the release of RS3 just magnified issues they already had but didn't know about.

That's always a possibility, but the bottom line is that players are quitting. The Vorago server crashes are another example of this problem.

Man, the QFC tag is still having issues. But at least the QFC code itself is visible.

You're supposed to do it like this
[qfc id=277-278-49-63574993](whatever you want)[/qfc]
So it appears like this
(whatever you want)

Funny it looks like the OP has given up on maintaining that thread.

And you ought to see this thread .

I've already explained why the subscriber count appeared to be so high. And besides that, the thread below has details of the fall in subscribers from mid-May to mid-July.

And by the way, I was playing during BXPW in October last year, when there were 120k people online, and the lag was horrible .

I can't find anything on it right now, but I suspect that additional servers were created for this very reason - to spread players out and help reduce lag.

Additional servers? Oh, you mean the conversion of many F2P servers to P2P. Yes, maybe that helped, although the problem of overcrowding was removed with the release of EoC.

You weren't playing during BXPW? I was in Taverley, trying to level up Summoning (along with another two hundred players) and my character paused every two steps.

I'm not blindly supportive, but I also realize that even though I pay a monthly subscription, I don't control the company or what it does. Which, yanno, is the same across the entire gaming industry. In my experience, it's the players who want everything done exactly the way they want it done - and don't get it - that whine the most and rage quit. Them and the people that jump on the bandwagon to "be cool."

To be honest, if I hated the game so much that I wanted to see it die, I wouldn't bother to post at all. I'd just leave and never look back, and tell all my IRL friends what a **** game it was. That's what I did with MapleStory. I remain subscribed because I still like this game. I post criticism because I have the longevity of this game at heart.

I don't post suggestions to improve the game, though, because I'm convinced that Jagex won't care unless they happen to be looking for it.

And speaking of feedback, you should check out this Runefest thread:

That's actually not what I was referring to. I was referring to how much of those profits were invested right back into the game. Read it again.

Actually, I realise that arguing with you over Insight Ventures will not change anything. Let's just see when if this game deteriorates, okay?

Al Kharid lodestone brings you close to the place where you can buy carpet rides.

The Fremmenik one brings you close to Rellekka.

The Tirranwn one brings you very close to Lletya.

There are 5+ ways to get to Miscellania.
hey lol
