Most people who kill bosses do it so the are able to train their skills. BTW 2402 total. I'm pretty sure I don't limit myself
You may not limit yourself to just combat but it is possible to do nothing but boss fighting and train all your other skills without actually training them, and in the process become richer in GP and items in six months from boss fighting than you could from six years of non combat skilling. That is something I never understood, why non combat skilling was allowed to become so obsolete that we still can't make better than rune from mining and smithing, which is the same armour available when the game started, while combat was given drops that should have been smithing updates.
I'm not saying combat should not be rewarded, but combat should not be the only way to gain items, non combat skills should be able to make anything a player can get from combat drops and be just as useful for earning GP as combat is.
There is something wrong with the game when you can do nothing but boss fight and gain XP in all non combat skills too without having to train them, and when combat is the only way to obtain wealth other than merchanting or cheating in some way.
If I were in charge non combat would be capable of producing all of the best gear in game and of earning GP just as much if not more than combat allows.
I would not have an imbalance where combat makes someone exceedingly rich but where non combat makes so little gp in comparison.
I would not have all materials easy to obtain from non combat, I can think of so many ways to add luck, risk, and difficulty to non combat to rival any combat boss.
