I wouldn't quite say it's historic. It's just a number, and more unfortunately, one that includes accounts that have not and will not ever sincerely care for RuneScape.
I don't mean to belittle the moment for you folks at Jagex or those of you on the community side of things who care, but really, there's so much more to be proud of than that number. For example, the RuneScape forums and the community that inhabits it - surely we can be proud of having one of the most active and dynamic forums on the Internet
?
Sure, that would mean every day is a celebration, but that certainly is something I would rather, naturally, celebrate with everyone, especially in comparison to this supposedly historic milestone.
Just your friendly neighborhood team player.
I feel depressed and saddened that Jagex feel they are able to glorify in such an 'achievement'. This is no achievement at all - are you not embarrassed to have such a stat on your home page?
We all know that the vast majority of these accounts are Bots or lost accounts (I have two such lost accounts from my very early days of playing RS).
It is an insult to those true players to boast about such a stat.
Tell the truth on the home page - how many active (non Bot or lost accounts) are there currently?
