We're provisionally planning to re-run the F2P worlds question, since there's been so much debate as to what it meant. For that matter, we're also thinking of letting people know the <i>planned</i> contents of future polls before they open, so that we can see if similar issues are likely to crop up again.

Hi Ash, I am just wondering if free players will ever be allowed to play the old school servers. The game isn't the same without the free players in terms of prices of certain items as well as having old friends on my list who are free to play because they don't have the ability to pay for their own membership. While I'm fortunate enough to be able to pay to play, there are many who aren't. This being said, will free players ever be able to play the game?

I'm going to vote no when it pops up again (because I refuse to endorse the insulting behaviour I've seen from this portion of the community).

So you're going to vote against the 70k+ (too lazy to look at the numbers right now, so that's a big rough estimate) people who voted yes, because of the 20-30 people on the forums who are rude?

As someone who uses the forums as much as you do, I would think you'd understand that the Forums is an extremely SMALL amount of players when you realize how many people are in game playing, and how many people NEVER post on the forums.

Personally, I've yet to have a negative experience In-Game with a pker. (I know it happens obviously, but it's yet to happen to me)
While I've definitely read the rude people on the forums, I've also noticed it's usually the same group of 20-30 Forum Regulars....as opposed to the tens-of-thousands of other players I've never spoken to. Everything's an integrity issue if you troll enough.

75% is a bit ridiculous... Where did they pull that number out of? Now do you refuse the majority and see a greater amount of people leave? Or do you please the 30% with a good 5% that didnt understand what they were even voting for. This game had F2P pking in 2007. So if you were indeed trying to create nostalgia over controversy, F2P of some sort would have been in the game already.

The forums. Noticeably, most of the stuff on the poll is scoring well over 80%. The only near-miss is this F2P server thing.

While we understand the view that F2P servers existed in 2007 and could have been brought back without a poll, we don't currently plan to go that way. But we do think it's worth asking the question again with a proper explanation of what we're offering. There've been all kinds of misconceptions bouncing around the forums.

For now Jagex prefers to offer OldSchool RS as a subscribers' benefit, so any F2P servers would still be available only to you subscribers.

The poll on F2P-themed servers, if anything, should have been a vote on NOT bringing them back. They were there, and there's no reason for players not to enjoy certain restrictions they enjoyed in 2007, unless 75% of the community says they shouldn't. What's happening now is 30% of the community blocking a feature that was present in 2007. How is that supposed to make sense?

Edit: Yes I'm referring to F2P-themed, I understand and find it reasonable that there's no actual F2P, but the reasoning for not having F2P-themed-but-still-paid-for servers is severely lacking.

Thank you for responding Mod Ash, i understand that there really isnt much that can be done now. But in the future you guys should ask yourselves do you want a disgruntled 70% or 30%... I know that it would still only be pay to play regardless and im 100% okay with that. I think the F2P pking community is the only demographic affected by this. I am excited that Jagex is actually holding votes this time around so i understand that if we dont make the amount of votes required, we dont deserve the content. I just want to avoid "07" falling off to oblivion like my beloved "Classic."

I think we should have f2p Pking servers right now it is at about 70% I don't know why people would vote no it doesn't really effect them. There is people who like F2P pking better and they shouldn't ruin it for us. I hope you guys can round it up at this point cause it should be close enough plus the majority of us voted yes.

I thank mod ash for answering some questions. Kinda sad that it looks like were gonna have to wait even longer for f2p worlds, even though its what alot of us are playing and paying for. I really hope something is done or i fear alot of us will end up just quiting, including myself.

I JUST DONT GET IT! Why does people vote no on the f2p servers? Im just gonna go die. This game will never be the same without f2p. What the hell? This is just like always, there is always something that is going to be depressing on this game, never can you guys just do it right. Where you guys sleeping when 100000 of players where f2p pking? Or what is the problem? Ive got this vision where we all pk together in f2p like we used to do, im not gonna play this game anymore. I hate everything. lol.
