"Ironically, in October 2007 we actually changed our backup systems, so we have no complete content versions from August onwards that are viable for this purpose."
well, that was *tupid. anybody who knows even the slightest bit about computing would agree that not having a full backup available is a very stupid and extremely risky thing to do. could you imagine what would happen if something went wrong with the live servers? you would have to start over on the eoc and everything, again, ALL THE WAY BACK FROM 2007. (sorry for the caps but you guys really need to give us italics)
"This will be a members-only vote. While all types of players have invested time in the game, it is our members that ultimately fund the initiatives and therefore get to *** the priorities. Your support allows us to continue to evolve this amazing game that we all care deeply about. Making the vote members-only has the benefit of ensuring the votes cannot be rigged, and is a reliable, secure way to calibrate interest from dedicated players."
its a bit late you know... quite a few of them have allready left, and some might not even be willing to come back even if this does get implemented.
and, one last little point that i have been trying to stress for all my seperate server agruments, level four servers:
2007 Servers will come back as a separate entity to the main RuneScape game, with a larger dedicated development team with no extra membership fee and the free portion of the game available to all."
specifially,
"the free portion of the game available to all."
you know, this means that free players might return, and you could still nab membership fees off them if they decide to purchase it for the 2007 version. they might visit the 2007 version first, and buy mems without ever visiting the eoc.
which is probably the first thing that would get done right.
p.s. november 19th 2012 severs too please. and get the backups sorted out.
Thanks for reading
