Coming from a player who has played since 2006, and continued on to play occasionally to this day, I honestly say bring back old servers in full.
Those people who have not experienced 2006 Runescape cannot possibly understand what the game was all about before. It wasn't about the updates, the new skills, quests, spells or any of that back then. 2006 Runescape was about friendship and pride. The simplicity of the game lead players into a world where from the very beginning most things were obvious, the playing field was relatively flat. Making money surely was everyone's goal, as well as leveling up to get stronger to impress friends. Being social was easy, because most people had the time to interact with new players, take a break from simple skilling or questing to just hang out and help a newbie. Because of this most people paid it forward, and also gained a feel for the worlds that they liked to stay in. Each world had it's own personality and if you felt welcome there you were home, there was no need to stay in a different world unless you wanted to go to markets (World 1, 2 ect). The bond of friendship was definitely strengthen because of this.
Honestly you cannot even get me started about PKing, like I said before, the game was about friendship and pride. PKing your world and raiding other worlds with your friends was a huge part of the growing pride and forming of real relationships.
Now, the game is completely different, and this is not all because of the new updates. I know that I myself have grown apart from the game over the years, as most of my friends from the past have as well. To be honest a lot of us DO have better things to do. I started playing RS in middle school, I am now in college, so this game has all but died to me. The graphics to me are no longer appealing, the easy of play is gone, as well as the community I played with. The dynamic of the game has changed, but it can also be said that players from 2007 are now behind in the times.
