Hah, there are so many responses here, but figured I would add my two cents as well.
Yes, there is likely voter manipulation, but hey, Jagex is a company. If you don't like it, then don't play the game. A company listens to what the economy dictates, and in this case, people are willing to pay extra for a game.
To those that don't understand why individuals would want to play an "older game"... Well, I am assuming you never played back in the '07 days. I played from around 2004 till 2009. I loved my Runescape during those days. Various updates detracted from the overall "feel" of the original game that I had come to love. The new graphics are nice, but I play the game for the games sake. Not for graphics. Besides, even the "HD" graphics are nothing too impressive compared to other MMORPGS. People do not play RS for graphics, they play it for the singular fact that RS is a very unique and fun game that builds fun community experiences.
Runescape 07 is doing for "my" generation of Runescapers what RS Classic did for people during the transition to RS2. There is a nostalgia associated with Runescape for me, and the current version of the game is... well, less than fun for players like myself.
Needless to say, I am excited for this and happy that Jagex is implementing this.
