Although I probably won't spend much time on the "Old School Servers", I have voted "yes" to them on the assumption that there are many members out there that do want to use them and would prefer not to pay any extra membership charge.

Having said that, I can't help but feel there is something fishy going on.

1) Jagex have said that they need 500,000 votes in order to provide this service for free.
2) They have also said that there are sufficient "current" members to achieve the 500,000 "yes" votes without the need for ex-members (or new ones) to create membership just to vote.

So if 500,000 current members vote "yes" we get an extra free service.

Where is the money going to come from to pay for the servers and the new team? The 500,000 current members won't be paying any extra!

Logically, the answer must be:

a) Jagex can afford to give us this service for free regardless as to the number of "yes" votes from current members.
b) They have not told us the truth and need new members to pay for it.
c) There are not enough current members to reach 500,000 votes and therefore Jagex intended to charge for this service all the time and/or get new members.

Which answer is correct Mark?

If there is another answer I have missed, I would like to hear it as I am sure would many others.

I understand that there are (many) players out, who don't like the new combat system, as they are probably not able to evolve new playing skills higher than brainless clicking (this is no criticism).

I understand that there are (many) players out, who don't like micro transactions, as they force players with endless might to spend more money on a game as they already do (this is definitively irony)

I understand that there are (many) players out, who don't like the new graphical updates, as they cause enormous lags, especially if playing on a 10 year old computer system (probably sarcasm)

I honestly don't understand, why people wanna play on a 5 year old version of a game, which would instead offer many more new features, a much more advanced combat system, tremendous graphics (compared to 2007) as well as weekly updates and new features

In interest of the game, I hope you are not planning to waste too much attention to the "old school servers" and if you do I hope you'll find a way to finance new server staff instead of reducing the attention on the actual game, because as you said: "we'll be able to provide the service for free to members. We will also be able to bolster the development team, run weekly maintenance and implement our full anti-botting and anti-gold farming technologies. Not only that, but we'll carry out regular membership polls to decide new content."

free servers + regular new content does not work together, if not financed right and without splitting up attention from the actual game

have fun though in the past, for everyone who is interested

Edit: forcing players to vote for the "old school servers" in order to only try them out once, in order to make a well considered decision, is kind a vote manipulation.
As with the EoC, players should be able to try them out, before having to vote for them (there are players who don't play for 5 years already and can't know, how it is like)

really? you gotta be ******* kidding me u ****** up on EOC and alot of people quit this game..................... u should just bring back runescape like it was before EOC without starting again then im sure alot of people would start playing this game again.
