Can you clarify what the 2007 service will consist of?

We are looking at fully restoring our backup of the August 10th 2007 version of the game and running it on dedicated servers, so that it functions exactly as it did back in the day. We’ll try to fix any critical bugs from this version, and to have the hiscores system too. We’ll work to make this compatible with our modern infrastructure, so it will use the current account database and you'll be able to use your existing account to log in, if you wish.

Does this mean I can play my character from back in 2007?

No, everyone will start fresh.

so can i use my account or must i start over?

So this is great... Making the poll for people who have membership. Smooth move Jagex. Don't get me wrong, should the vote pass I would buy membership again to play, but there is no way I''m going to shell out whatever you guys charge now for a CHANCE to play again... moronic. I have been playing since the days of rsc. and I get no vote. Happy happy joy joy.

To all of you who are complaining about the vote being members only.

While it's true that Jagex could work up some sort of account sorting software to keep people from stuffing the ballot box using newly created trial membership accounts, it's so much easier and more secure for them to just set it so only members can vote.

To cure your woes about voting, try to find the money to pay for a month of membership, and vote.

Edit: As of now, the vote count is over 202k, that's over 40% of the way to no extra charge for paid EoC RS accounts to play '07 RS, and we have been voting less than 5 days.

VOTE! VOTE! VOTE!

Second Edit: Making the 500k level will allow us to play ether, or both versions. When someone goes to the store and sees BOGO on something he wants he at least checks to see if he can BO so he can GO, doesn't he?

I voted 'yes', even though I won't pay $15 a month extra to play it, if it gets enough votes to be free, then I'd play...I don't understand all the people with the power to vote(members) saying 'no' and hating on the very idea of 2007 servers...It doesn't effect the current game whatsoever, so withholding a vote is just being selfish. I've heard 'oh it will crash the current economy' It's a completely separate game, no transferring of assets, levels, nada...start from scratch...I just don't see the point in not voting, makes no sense to me

I was all up for this oldschool serves deal, until i read that i cant transfer my account to the old servers. I cant even transfer my GP to my new account. So Why would i want to start over? Ive played RS since 2004. Ive put WAY too much time and money(membership) into this one account**** 22 years old, full time job, girlfriend, i dont have the time to "restart" and afk hours away training my stats back up. I want to be able to have my avatar and gp in the old servers, so i can enjoy the combat with friends like we use to.

Now, how to go about this, simple, just make the servers like you did with beta. When you transferd your account, you had all your items, and could buy new ones in the EoC beta. BUT you could not bring back any items from the beta, into actual RS. So - Couldnt you do the same but backwards? Or make it like with members and F2P gear, when you go into a F2P world, you can not equip a member item - So when you go into the oldschool servers, all items 07+ You "Cannot equip on this server" or some crap.

Anyhow thats my two cents. I only have left over membership on here anyhow, i wont be renewing it.

I think that established F2Ps, such as f2ps whose accounts have previously been members, or have a total level over 500 or 1000, or who have had accounts since 2007 (whatever Jagex decides) should be able to vote in this poll. I understand that if anyone in the world could vote, how that would definetly affect the ablility of Jagex to make a profit on this investment. But some of these F2Ps have put lots of time and money into this game, and should have a say.

I know that you can just become a member, vote, and get the first month of 07 free, but lots of people, like myself, are thinking that its just one vote. Theyre worried that theyre money will end up going waste, because that one vote isnt going to help bring 200k votes to 750k. If you let these F2Ps vote, once the number of votes reaches 750k or 500k and a solid 07 version is released, these players will be reassured and subscribe again.

Even if you just give us one day to vote, and even if it's only for established F2Ps, there will a big wave of votes of people who will subscribe once they know that they are subscribing to a good verison (500k, 750k vote) of 2007. I wouldnt want to buy a membership, cast my vote and have a membership just to use on the 50k verison

Jagex just admit u flocked up bringing out EOC you lost alot of $people veterans and members$ plus split the community. It was a risk you took to make more $ and it dident turn out good at all. Jagex staff spent so much money and time on EOC they dont want to admit to there mistakes and get rid of it just like that but they all know deep down insidce EOC turned out to be crap and 90% of the community wouldent even care if they took it away tommrow there just trying to make extra $$$ before they take it away and learn from there mistakes. Pfftttttttttt
