Eoc should have been a positive update, but it came with too many glitches, ended up limiting only the richest able to do combat.

And wrecked havoc on the economy with so many items becoming worthless (rapiers, dclaws) and then crappy items becoming the only choice (two handed weapons, royal cbow).

Im not really sure theres any skill to the combat system right now, pressing buttons to do 125% weapon damage nonstop is a really boring game design.
Sidenote: Thok went from a god to a crybaby who gets murdered by spiders and men-in-dresses. Blink meanwhile became the god of death and frusteration.

This actually feels like Jagex are holding their hands up and saying "look, we know we f---ed up a lot of content last year, and we are sorry. This year we'll listen to you and collect real feedback and adjust accordingly."

I do think this is a step in the right direction. Admitting you're "wrong" isn't an easy thing to do, especially to large groups of the public. So Kudos on doing that.

If you guys stick to your word, I do think we are in for a good year. (And I'm sure there'll be plenty of surprise content alongside the stuff we ask for =P )

Oh yes I also have a bit of an annoyance at the gold membership club. I mean once all members were on an equal plane but not there are tiered memberships. That never leads anywhere good.

I am very glad that you recognize what you did with the EOC and how big of an update that it truly was. It still should have never been released without a public agreement. You guys are also messing around like crazy with prices, look at what happened with rocktails, potion flasks and others. They have all lost significant value! Why because of the EOC. I recognize that you won't remove EOC because you have so much invested in to it but if this is "our" year then the combat system will have evolved once again.

Thank you for this. It helps a lot to restore faith in Jagex. Unfortunately though, you seem to take too long to do anything or say anything. To an extent that you're leaving it too late.

But answer this... Where does it come to the point where you ACTUALLY listen to what your players want? Hardly any one wanted EOC (no I'm not trolling, I wanted EOC) but seriously, a lot really just didn't, and still don't, want it. Yet, it was still released. Even when it was in beta and certainly wasn't ready.

Or other things like Tutorial Island... Something simple, but yet much of your community asked you to do something with it but you just removed it and said no.

Or the wild, you said in a vid that it'll never come back... and see how many years it took for you to realize the game needed it? and it was definitely left too late.

It's okay for you to take the risk. But the issue is where you leave things too late to mend.

I hope this year's good. After RuneFest, I was looking forward to 2012... But stuff at RF took too long to even come out, and the bad things like sof came out first which made the year not so good.

Good luck 2013 though looking forward to runefest

I couldn't stop wondering what the skills were going to be.
For the production skill, I just tell myself it'll be Engineering so i don't have to think about it anymore.
I'm still stuck with the gathering skill though...

I was just starting to like dungeoneering (and all combat) but then Eoc came out and i hate it.

I pay my membership every month for about 4/5 years now there's the premier club - am i supposed to pay every month plus the extra to be in the premier club.

i would love to carry on with the game i have lots of friends on here all over the world but it is getting to the point where i don't seem to be playing as much anymore and wondering if i should be paying for something i don't use so much now

I was a bit worried at first on account of the "What's Going" part. I am very sick of the removal of old content like 25% of the original free user quests. However, I was glad to see that there weren't any signs of that in the article.
On the topic of the Squeal of Fortune, he basically implied that Jagex knows that a lot of players hate it, but it has churned out desperately needed profit. That answer actually did satisfy me. As much as I hate SoF, I'd rather deal with it than have this game go completely out of business.
Contrary to what the title would have you believe, the article had nothing to do with 2013. It was really a review of 2012. He spoke of how he's happy with many of the updates they've made. My main issues with the articles were that the title was misleading (we weren't really told anything about what will happen this year), and I can't help but feel like Jagex is still not planning on listening to many of our requests. I'm still sensing that notorious Jagex stubbornness. However, I could be wrong.

Mod MMG you implied that SOF was essential income to help fund the ongoing projects you have, dispite it being widely hated on by the majority of the community.

You lost so many players with the release of EOC so my question is why dont you just bring back 06 servers seperate to 2013scape so that the community you so much care about can come back and enjoy the game you killed.

This surely would be a better way to bring in income than the SOF i mean.. Its a win win...
