Greetings Denizens of Gielinor. I am glad to hear that this year is our year and we are all looking forward for what 2013 will bring us.

It has been quite some time since I have last played Runescape and I've noticed a lot of grand changes. However, there are a few particular things which I have been puzzling over for quite some time...

I enjoy the little things. They have always brightened up my days. However, where are the little things? What are these little things that I am inquiring about? They are... The Random Events with our dearly beloved: Evil Bob, Sandwich Lady, Drill Demon, and etc... Alongside with the dangers while skilling when the River Troll would make an appearance from the depths when fishing or a Rock Golem emerging from the Earth when mining. There were so many abnormalities which would occur while skilling which made it enjoyable. When defeating one of the many NPC's that would attack you for disturbing their grounds and receiving a random gift from them was satisfying.

I would greatly appreciate it if you could revive the Random Events of Runescape once again. Thank-you very much. :)

**I apologize if this proposal has already been submitted**

If you are to abide by what you have said here in making 2013 a year of better communication and a year which is flexible for the players’ desires, honesty needs to be fundamental to your strategy. Assuming what you have posted is your aim and “to look back over the huge, game-spanning changes that we made last year, look at what we did right and where we could have improved, and to lay out our plan for 2013 so you guys are involved from the start” is effectively your mission statement, you should stick to this and not shy away to “quality profit” if the community means as much to you as you claim.
In the past we have seen you bring the Wilderness back after strongly saying “No, it won’t be coming back”. We’ve seen you claim that you would never “RWT” yet introduce Squeal/SGS. We’ve also seen you claim that the Evolution of Combat will balance melee/magic/range and then release three level 90 weapons, courtesy of the Kalphite King for melee and thus far no such things for mage/range. Arguably yes, the EoC has improved this. But as you have said yourselves, “on-going improvements” will be required. The complete annihilation of bots and gold farmers is in the players’ interests and with that in mind, any such huge steps forward (without allowing the bot programmers to use this information to their advantage) should be released to the players.
To a large extent, an element of surprise within the game for the RuneScape community is something many players look forward to. Thank-you for telling us the truth about Squeal/SGS and confirming large amounts of players’ sceptical beliefs and as long as the finance attained from “micro-payments” is used wisely, I am sure RuneScape will prosper.
Good luck with 2013, yourselves!

Good message. My advice, though, is to not pay for voice actors unless it's very cheap but I doubt Jagex are doing it on the cheap. Rather than pay expensive actors and recording studios you can involve the community and get them to vote for each other on reading out the scripts. Just select the scripts out from your quest database and post it on here. Let them read the scripts out on youtube and credit them if they 'win' community votes.

Free voice acting
Cheap (in time) to manage
massive community involvement
"I did that" factor for all involved

EDIT!! By 'vote' I mean literally just use other people's services like YouTube votes and Facebook likes. No reason for you to waste money on coding new systems for it!

They already killed pures and zerkers but even mains aren't able to pk that good.

Thank you for this update and heartfelt information. I absolutely cannot wait for the gold farmers to be put to sleep (big wish I know) and HTML5 will seriously change the game as a whole.

As a life long gamer who's moved to ONLY playing RS, it's extremely relieving to see a communicative staff that *ants to have the players help develop the future.

Cheers to 2013 being a great year for RuneScape.

**Edit**

Forgot to mention that I really hope the marketing budget to drive new player acquisition goes up. I understand that there was an ad before the Hobbit movie but some pre-roll ads for Youtube could help to drive up awareness. Also, there are many ad networks out there that can easily work with you guys on a CPA basis to drive new users. You could potentially even work out a deal with them to pay a small rate for a F2P player and then a premium rate for a signed up user. I work in the ad network industry and know this does take place with other games. Check out ad networks like Matomy, Kitara Media, Adtegrity and a ton others. Their distribution is not the highest quality but they can provide you with great rates and tons of ad impressions (which, if ran with a CPA are simply branding unless someone actually signs up).

Thank you for the post. I'm glad you see that not all went swimmingly with the rapid advancement of change. That being said, as I push further into my 6th yr being a member...

* My only request moving forward is that you restore a meaningful impact of having 99 in combat skills. Please restore some significant effect in combat over a lvl 90 that is wearing the same gear. I'd like to see critical hit boost tiers based on levels over 90, if at all possible. Or perhaps gear stat increases based on the players level over the minimum required. Just a thought... or hope.

Cheers.

Really excited for 2013 and Runescape as a whole, assuming these aren't just words and Jagex is actually going to be doing this stuff it should be a great year!

These are the things I'm particularly interested in:
-Get rid of Gold Farming Bots (Specifically rocktail bots, but I guess the others should go too)
-Making things like food and potions necessary for combat again so all the skillers have a market to sell their goods to. (I know they just did this but its still not even close to the way it was pre-EoC, and I understand it may not go all the way back to what it was but I feel like it could be a little better.)
-Release more fishing content.

Keep up the good work Jagex!
