Okay, so it is free with a regular Runescape membership. But, my question is can we buy old membership before you decide to possibly make an additional fee. Basically, can we buy one month of regular RS and but a load of Old RS months. If possible, sure you'll lose like 3 dollars per person but it sure would stop a lot of the Jagex hate.

The fact that so many player have left the main game to play this 2007 version shows that there are underlying issues with the game in it's current state. A lot of people quickly cast this blame on the EoC update, but the declining player base has been falling for years. Most veteran players it seems have left due to the money grab tactics and pay-to-win attitude which has become increasingly and unwillingly shoved down player's throats. This includes a wealth of unnecessary free xp from pointless events to attract more short term membership as well as the ability to purchase in game xp and items using real world currency. Multiple rank 1 players have left the game citing these exact reasons. These are the updates that cause veteran players to leave.

Right so I would have to pay for a membership to pay for an Old School membership? That's like paying for cable when u don't own a TV. Jagex will make enough money without requiring two payments, and as someone who isn't a kid playing the game (I pay bills, work, etc...), personally I won't pay for two games when I only pay one. Please don't take it as I want it free.. Paying for regular membership and having access is reasonable. I would just like to know if it will be an additional fee on top of regular membership and nobody can seem to give me a straight answer on that.

At the moment that does seem like the case, yes. Nothing is set in stone however, and there is a possibility that they may introduce separate payments for each game. You're not alone in not wanting to pay for EoC, many other people have already raised the issue and I'm sure Jagex will address it before long.

Predictable really. Ever since MMG has come out being so in favour of RS07 (which was pretty much on the first day) its been obvious they wouldnt let the vote fail, even though it didnt even make enough votes to justify rounding it up to 500k.

Mixed feelings on that. Personally I am quite happy because I'd like to keep playing it for free, but I can understand frustration from those who dont play it....

It's free whilst you have a membership subscription to the main game, so there's no additional payment...not yet anyway.

In 6 months time Jagex may well have implemented a method to pay separately.

-----

It's great to see a 6 month (plus/minus player demand) period where 2007 is free to play; I might actually play it from time to time. However, it will never take over the modern game for me because the only thing worse in what we currently have is Jagex and their money-making schemes.

What does that mean for **** games? If one can survive without microtransactions then the other most likely can. By microtransactions I mean primarily those involving real items and advantages like the entire SoF and the new pets in Solomon's store. Alternatively, Jagex will just end up putting microtransactions in everything even against player demand; that's what they've been doing for the last 18 months anyway.

I will continue to play RuneScape in its updated state, but the current player numbers on oldschool gives two clear messages:

1) People will play a game if it's not full of additional payments and pay2win transactions
2) The bots really are bad...The players ingame counter remains consistently insanely high even though half of most players' friends list is probably "Oldschool #" most of the time; Mine certainly is.

So yeah, remove mtx and bots and then you've fixed the game in 2013, making it the year from players for certain :)

In my opinion, it would be wise to create separate payment options for both, as I feel people may not be able to afford/ will not want to pay for two games. But as it stands, I'm happy with the outcome and thank you Jagex for releasing 07Scape and thank you to everyone that voted!
