I'm sorry, but while it is fantastic news for all the '07 enthusiasts, for someone with no interest in a dated version of the game, this has yet again shown that Jagex cannot keep their word.
It was said that half a million account votes were needed to pass the boundary for the service to be free, guaranteed anti-bot and anti-gold farming technology to be implemented, and for regular polls to decide which content should be implemented and which ones shouldn't. But as you can plainly see, it has fallen short of the threshold.
In fact, four out of the six features listed in the +500,000 column on the poll page has been ticked off, even though there is not enough support for it. As a player who will not be playing '07scape, or even voted in favour of it, it is seen as a breach of trust, and a waste of time, effort and resources. You slashed the $5 membership fee for '07scape (again, this is not a bad thing for those who want it), and that means lost income for the development of the main game.
The crux of the matter is that there is not enough support for these features to exist, no matter which angle you look at it. Now, don't get me wrong, for those of us who love this, that's great. But for the people who are happy with EoC, and didn't whinge incessantly for it's removal or a compromise, it's another example of Jagex not sticking to their word. Only look as far as The World Wakes to know my words are true. Content that was highly anticipated, and promised not to have been affected by '07scape was inevitably delayed as a result of it. How can your word ever be trusted if you keep walking back over it?
