Now, I'm not on the side of botters, i'm against botting and cheating in general, for the same reasons Jagex is against them. However, I have a problem with the method Jagex is using.
1. Automated detection systems: these systems automatically detect repetetive of patterned behavior, which, if a legitimate player were to log on and mine for hours, this system could register them as being botting, and auto-ban, or auto-penalize them, for playing fair.
this leads me to my second point:
2. No Appeal, No Hearing, Straight Ban: The "Botters" are considered Guilty until proven innocent. Further, they receive no opportunity to explain themselve, or prove themselves human. now, I don't know what the legal system is in Britain, but here in the US, suspects are Innocent until Proven Guilty. Jagex does not have the money to have people handle these bans, and the "Trials" in-game are jokes for the entertainment of players. The system is unfair, giving no opportunity for either appeal, or for a person to argue his case.
3. Possible *****ion: The CAPTCHA system is fundamentally built to prevent botting, Jagex should install this system or a similar one to help prevent botting, as it forces players to answer, in a way only humans can. the system could be designed so that if a player exhibits continued, repetitive, behavior, would be challenged, therefore causing bots to be caught, and skilling player to be able to make their case, with the system still automated.
Jagex, If you wish to defend your methods, please do, I am fair and willing to listen to your arguments for your current system, and anything that I might be unaware of.
