I recently queried this with the billing team. Thanks Mod Kalaya for the quick response considering it was over the christmas period.

It was explained to me why they chose the flat rate, and I was told that the runecoins, and other extras were to make it more worthwhile for the members who have the discounted rates.

However, I don't see how the flat rate can even be considered a logical move. The flat rate still causes members with the loyalty rates to have to pay more for the exact package that other members get at a discount. Surely the logical thing would've been to keep the loyalty rates applied to those that have them so they're paying the cumulative 'discounted' cost for the packages, and apply the other discount to everyone else?

I feel that would've been a fair way to do this promotion, and if you do decide to bring back more packs like this (the possibility has been mentioned over in the billing forum), then it would make more sense to approach it as suggested above, as not only will it be fair to ALL of your members, but it will encourage more of the members with grandfathered rates to actually consider buying a package, rather than ignore it and leave their payment as it is.

I also think it was a bit unfair to only offer a portion of the 2011/2012 vanity items, as it makes it look as though those who don't pay with gamecards are penalized for the way they pay.

Oh so your saying if you bundle your money for membership and pay 75 bucks all at once, then you'll get your membership and the benefits. Ohhh....

I though that you just payed $75 on top of your membership and got the benefits. lol.

I can't say I am against this update. Honestly, putting something like this together takes little to no time away from completing other content for the game (Although they have the staff required to multitask.)
I may indulge in the gold subscription. May as well since I look forward to playing for the next year anyways.

I have been playing rs for over 4 years and it automatically comes out of my bank account. I have been loyal and have kept it going. I am thinking it is time to find something else to spend my time on because the veterans of this game are getting the raw end of the deal. There is no way i will commit to 3 months to a year when the game keeps catering to the new people. I am so disappointed.

I currently pay monthly at the old discounted rate and have done for many years for both RS & FunOrb does this now mean that if I continue to pay this way then I will not be entitled to the benefits of bronze silver or gold membership without paying for months in advance?
If this is so then it will hit many people who pay this way and it does not seem fair to the ones who have paid repeatedly month in month out.
When I first started paying for my membership it stated that by paying a monthly fee I would be entitled to access ALL members items and areas IF this is now not the point without paying extra on top of our monthly paymentthen why have us members not been informed of this???
Surely a change as big as this should have been put out to all paying members to decide on as it seems like the initial "Get access to all member items and areas" clause will have been broken to current members unless more money is turned over...
Please can we have some classification as to what will ahppen if we continues to pay at monthly rate as we are confused and no one will stand up and talk to us???????

im loveing my green skin :D cant wait for 2013 betas i don't think this i bad at all there a company and they need money to keep there customers happy and to keep the game we love running and keep it updated and expand it wolk out.
