I don't know what all the fuss is about anyways. Why does it matter if people can buy their way to riches or high levels? It's not like it is cheap. Who is really going to blow a thousand bucks or something on a game? Not to mention people have already been buying their way to riches (I personally know a few :/ ) for a very long time. There are also those who level by botting. SoF doesn't really change the game. You might as well stop complaining about it because they aren't going to remove it (don't you think they would've by now if it were a possibility?). Just suck it up and embrace it because it isn't going to disappear until runescape does.
P.S. Don't tell me I'm one of the newer rs players who doesn't understand. I've been playing since '05.

Please remove this SoF garbage.. its really getting on our nerves. Although you want more revenue from us, your doing it the wrong way. Sooner than later, in the next year or the next few months. this is going to develop into selling rsgp to us.

Might I suggest that the Squeal of Fortune is okay, maybe even fun, but the big complaint that everyone has about it is the experience lamps. Sure, people like the SoF because they can get experience without earning it by winning it on the SoF, especially since lamps are such a common prize. Saying "we're not going to get rid of it because a majority of people like it" is equivalent to saying "we're not going to stop people from cheating at Runescape because a majority of people like to cheat." That's the problem right there, Jagex! Because you're selling spins for real world money, and because experience lamps are such a common prize, you are, in effect, selling game experience for real money. That's what has everyone in an uproar! You're letting people pay you real world money to cheat at Runescape, Jagex! You say you're against botting and cheating and Real World Trading, yet you are the biggest perpetrator of cheating via Real World Trading by continuing SoF.
But can I now make a constructive suggestion, Jagex? Keep the SoF, but just take out the experience lamps. Instead, put coveted prizes in the SoF that aren't available any other way! For example, one of the prizes could be an Adamant or Mithril equivalent to the Dwarven Army Axe. Also emotes and auras that are only winnable on the SoF. That way, you still get the revenue from selling spins, but people can't cheat at Runescape by buying spins just to win experience lamps.

Honestly, I like the Squeal of Fortune wheel. Just won my first rare item: Dragon Ceremonial Cape. =D
Though the only thing I'm against is buying spins; I'll most likely never buy spins.
Thank God we can get bonus spins in other ways.
Oh, and another point:
How many Jagex Mods do you think have actually bought Squeal of Fortune spins for their personal accounts? I would bet not even an eighth of them. Then again, I don't work there. Free spins could be a perk? Lol.

Aka no godswords, good armour, or 10m.
Its interesting that the lobby when you log in says 10x the chance to win super rare items...doesnt say cosmetic in there, so I get the feeling people will buy spins thinking they may win a Godsword or something.

SOF is doing nothing to hurt ur lives in rs. lol. who doesnt want free stuff?!?!?. just dumb to complain about free handouts. so what if some people buy spins? jagex is a company, how do companies run? money? what do they do with the money? make their game better, everyone should stop crying and trolling and enjoy the game.

This is atrocious, I've not seen worse behavior towards customers but from one other f2p company, needless to say their player base is just as upset as this one, and their games reside in a cesspool of pay2win.
Your concept of PR is mind boggling New-Jagex, please hurry up and kill Runescape so that I don't feel the need to see how the Runescape world is holding up every now and then.

Hello everyone. I'd just like to put a positive comment in here.
JaGeX is sort of giving out items here. Just because they added the buying spins doesn't necessarily mean that *you* have to buy them. That's just like using any ordinary credit card to buy membership with. You're using *real* life money to buy memberships. You're sending that money to JaGeX. When you do SoF and buy spins, you're sending that money to JaGeX. It's just a way to make money! You don't have to do it! You can give feedback, yes! You're aloud to. I've never seen one person say NO to memberships. Memberships are a *way* to get money for the people who provide the game, and make it better for us! We should be happy about this! We're getting free things that help make ourselves as GAMERS better! The company has very good people who do the job they like to do and they deserve to get payed for doing things at such great lengths; and for us! What I'm trying to say is that this is another way to get money and use that to make things better for us in-game. More money = more advanced technology = more fun! Okay? Can we all come to the conclusion that JaGeX is doing what they can for us? Not only us but the other games they make for all the other people who enjoy *those games*! This is us paying them, and us getting the rewards. You all should *LOVE* this. It's a way to make our accounts better. All the items we could win, and all things JaGeX could do for us!

I think Jagex is starting to make Rs too easy. They should get rid of the current SoF. This update is good, however, if they plan 2 keep it anyway. Now every1 has more of a chance of winning awesome things instead of only a few lucky ppl. I think Jagex should really make SoF more like Wheel of Fortune. Actually make it a game show that requires some skill and is at an Rs location.

To be honest, I am for SoF.
Now before everyone lashes out or anything, here are reasons why.
MMOs always have steady development, making them easier. Usually to balance skills out from older updates that were very large wants from various groups. This is no exception. Yes, the economy would be damaged, but we have worse things killing the economy than something giving out daily 1k's to all players. Those would be bots, for those who didn't catch on.
Now before I go any further, I hate people claiming, "Oh we worked so hard for this" etc. etc. Good for you, it just means you got it before everyone else did, and you should feel proud. It's a game guys, there's no need to act like it's your lifeline if something "messes up" your gameplay. All you people have to stop being nostalgia addicts and grow up, otherwise you are no better than typical teenagers who play this game casually.
All Jagex is trying to do is make the game much more user friendly in terms of new players. I can agree, yes, sometimes their ideas can go too far (such as SoF micro-transactions; there's a difference between buying your effort and wasting it, and if you're buying effort for an MMO, I am ASSURED, you have MUCH better things to do with your money). Yes, I am one of those people who saying playing is a waste of time. Only because it's true, and even I play knowing this. Anyways, continuing from before.
Summary: Jagex is trying new things, everyone has to stop complaining about the past efforts made and lastly, again, GO AWAY WITH YOUR NOSTALGIA, WE DON'T CARE. I'VE BEEN HERE SINCE '04-'05 (On a different account, I could grab it if you want, I could care less) AND EVEN I LIKE TO SEE THESE NEW FEATURES.
