Let's all tone down the heat of this discussion. I'm sure we can all discuss this amicably on all sides :)

I'd tend to agree that a small reference to a real life concept in a Postbag from the Hedge response isn't something to be read as an attack on any group, not in my estimation. It's worth pointing out that it wasn't an attack on masculinity itself but toxic aspects, so the reference is fairly specific and not generalising anyone.

It's not "social commentary" though, it's a thinly veiled excuse to attack men and act as if all of them show "toxic masculinity" simply because they're men.

Plus like I said the bigger problem is that in that post they didn't answer the question that was asked!

Seriously, look at every other question in the postbag from the hedge, then look at that one.
Instead of actually answering the question which was "we know how trolls get their names, how far back does the line of 'dad' trolls go?"
Someone thought it was a good excuse to 'answer' with "all men are toxic, they should be labeled as women from birth."


And if you think that all men being labeled toxic and being told that to fix this problem all babies should be identified as female from birth, then frankly the problem lies with you.

Okay, and if the post had said "all transgender people are the cause of toxicity, so dad will make sure to name his son dad, not mam." would you still say "it's just a fictional character, they aren't actually shitting on them!"


For all this talk of Jagex being "inclusive" I can guarantee 100% that if that was what was written in the postbag from the hedge someone on the team would have immediately edited it to say something else because it's "offensive" and "not being inclusive" yet when men are the subject? no that's totally fine, it's just a joke!
