They may lose me, too. I quit for 10 years. RS is my internet home that I returned to. However - it's a game and not a job. I play strictly for fun / to relax. I have no long-term RS goals. I only bother with skills and equipment to stay prepared for new quests as I enjoy the lore (which has been losing me lately, too). I play RS to relax. The forums are a big part of that relaxation. I may not be as prolific as I was in my prime but I also lurk. I lurked quite a bit (not logged in either) during my time away. This was my first online community.

This is what Jagex is forcing us to do by dropping forums: UC Irvine community bombarded with gory videos after online groups hacked
An estimated 3,000 users of Discord groups affiliated with UCI are believed to have been exposed to the disturbing content.
The cyberattack happened Jan. 9, 2024. It flooded the groups with pop-ups and caused academic disruption.

I feel ya. Literally grew up with this game. It helped lead me to various career choices I made (even though I ended up eventually taking a completely different path). It was there for me in the midst of my struggles and helped me get away from that so I could just have fun without worry.
To be fair to Jagex, after I maxed was when I started to lose motivation but it's not because I'm some sort of skiller that lost my source of fun. On the contrary, I don't enjoy most of the skills in this game at all. Aside from Dungeoneering and Archaeology, the majority of them are way too grindy & time-consuming for my tastes and there's not enough fun factor to make that worth it.
For me, the best parts of this game were the quests and the fact that it was supposed to be a sandbox RPG rather than some idle clicker. I loved the fact that I could log in, even if I only had 30 minutes to play, and feel like I've escaped to a different world where I can do whatever I feel like doing. Now, it's so far from that and I can't describe how sad that makes me.
Also, this game's forums also helped lead me to a very long stint working with a forum host that, for a time, was constantly battling with its main competitor for the number 1 spot among free forum hosts. That also led me to some opportunities that improved my life. Now, that history is leaving, thanks to Jagex's suckery.

RS didn't guide me anywhere professionally, but it was there for me growing up. There may even be a chance this game saved my life. Perhaps not in the literal sense but I don't know where I'd be had I not found this game in my youth.
Although arguing on the forums almost daily from a young age likely improved my professional writing, lol.
