A shame it's came down to this, but it is what it is sadly, seeing as these forums could have been something more had Jagex gave it the attention and updates it deserved on time, but the likes of Reddit and Discord saw to it's (somewhat predictable) demise by the mid-2010's.

Best to preserve any threads that left you with fond memories since, according to their official threads over in the OSRS and RS3 subreddits, the forums will become read-only on the 25th of January 2024 followed by shutting down the forums outright on the 28th of March 2024.

Sad to have it's last moments here, but it's been fun whilst it lasted!

Though at times there are instances where there is only me online, strangely after the announcement, I now see more than 10+ online.

Forum mods/community people should get some recognition (be it past or present, something to commemorate the stuff we did here/lurk around)

I only recently started posting regularly, but have read them for years (with an occasional post), and use them for a D&D group weekly on the regular, for again, years.

Here is my rant: it didn't help to allow a (VERY) few individuals, one in particular, to troll constantly, completely unchecked. How many people tried to participate, and left in disgust after getting tangled up in some of that endless obsession?

I feel that the forums are not so much for socializing as for giving feedback about the game. I am curious about how that will work on the other sites.

This ultimately feels like a very short-sighted decision, and it always will feel terrible to have a method of providing feedback stripped from us. Jagex isn't feeling the same recently. Hopefully things return to normal, but I'm not very confident anymore.

Surprised they are not gonna at least read-only it but I guess they're trying to save all the money they can. Farewell forums. You were fun 15 years ago. John scared? Glissed scared? Invoker scared? Rohan scared? 141 scared?!

Yeah, the forums were great. Now they're empty. I don't use discord or facebook, so this will disconnect me a little more from what's going on.

Assuming that all these external services will live on... I don't really see the point of removing forums. There are a lot of posts from the past that are full of nostalgia. Shame to hear that they are getting rid of these and not leaving them for read-only format forever.
