My account has been hijacked in the past months.
The guy clearly used "account recovery" to take my account.

Jagex is now refusing to fix the damage done to my account by their fault.

I want to know what you guys think should be the next course of action. I'm debating.

Well technically its jagex account as they own all accounts and items in game we do not as players own any of them

Jagex rarely give back items from hacking. You really need to keep the account secure have full security at all times

What makes you think it was hacked via account recovery? How did they get the information to use account recovery to be successful?

Properly secure your computer, and then properly secure your account.

You have no legal recourse, if that's what you're debating about, because as all accounts remain Jagex property, as clearly set out in the Terms & Conditions.

It may have been a time where they could say that but now that it is possible to buy bonds which is attached to a value in the game ; stealing an account results in stealing many bonds worth that were added into the account.

By allowing the thief to steal the account, they essentially became an associate to the thievery.

As for the other users : The thief had no other options. I had an account guardian (which somehow no longer exist at all?) and I would never login with my real passwords on external accounts. The only other way would be that RuneLite was hacked into somehow during the period of time I played. (And they would only steal my account years later? I was gone from the game for like 2 years)

Anyhow : Jagex can push down on players that it is our responsibility as much as they want ; At the end of the day, only a judge in a court of law may decide if that is true.

What the hell is up with the sue happies. You did not secure your account, your fault. Account and Computer security is up to you. JaGex has provided untold means and methods, you chose to ignore them Don't ever think the reason I am peaceful is because I do not know how to be violent.

The bold is all you really need. It's extremely hard to hijack an account under 2A protection because it's on your phone. And hijackers will not go out of their way to figure out how to hack your cellular device. Only such a way to happen is if YOU the USER allow it to happen (In short, don't try and cheat the game system.)

Some people need to go to school and learn even more. Fault does not always rely on one individual. The same way you would switch bank if your bank decided tomorrow to stop asking for ID with picture in order to pull out money, players in the game expect Jagex to have a better security in the game for their account and if something was to happen, we hope they help us to fix it. They are... 6 out of 10 at best in this scenario.
