If we want to stop seeing that type of thread, Jagex needs to stop messing around like this. Indeed, the security of the account remains the topic. Makes you wonder how many accounts right now that the players left for a couple of years to come back with half the security they left their account with.

I'm sorry for your loss. Going forward, please make sure you have updated your security settings to the latest that are available. It sucks that you had peace of mind that your account was secure and to have that feature pulled away whilst you were away from the game.

Highlights for me are:

> Wilderness Flash Events: Quick and easy to complete; some events could be worth over 1b in rewards (very rare), but on average you can get a few 100k each time.

> Rune Goldberg Machine: Making vis wax daily is worth over 1m GP. Do it every day, that's 365m per year.

> Rune Shops: Visit each rune shop around Gielinor and buy up the runes stock. There is a lot of profit in this, and accessing the Abyss shop is now safe, meaning more profits are available.

> Big Game Hunter: Requires no resources to do, and rewards can fetch up to 100m or so. Could be good for you if you're starting from nothing.

> Archaeology: There is a lot of money available in this skill from collecting materials alone.

> Farming Herbs: This is clearly a mainstay from yesteryear, but please check out
Garden of Kharid
before starting. This is a new update which allows you to increase Herb yield.

> Farming Dragons / Dinosaurs: These grow themselves and take little user input, and can be worth a few mil every few days.

Also Jagex did contact everyone who had the gaurdian that it was going to be disabled.

Also, please remember an account recovery .. requires the month/year you created your account. The isp the first and last used. 3 passwords used on that account. And other info.

If someone knew all that.. well your account WILL NEVER be secure as they can reclaim your account at any time.

Usually a hijack is from an email that is insecure or a phishing. But if your account was really and truely Recoverd (go look in community help.. its hard for even an account creator to recover their own acocunt). The you might as well cut that account as gone and play a new one.

hope that it was your email insecure if not.. you may have hell of trouble keeping that account as it will be reclaimed over and over by someone else.

Get familiar with the Jagex Launcher, it looks to be game-changing in cracking down on hackers. Bob says:

Even if Jagex warned everyone using whatever methods they used; You do not remove security without adding a new one of blocking the account until the owner can confirm.

Security 101.

This is not even close to something acceptable here.

Imagine if banks would no longer require photo IDs to confirm they have the right owner of the account at the bank because they decided that now people need to have a different type of identification for proof of ownership. They sent an email (which is meanless) and eventually removed the security without adding a new one. That bank will be hammered hard in court. That's a candy case for any lawyer.

And yes, I'm aware of how seriously bad it can be.

My Main also was Hijacked and waiting to see if my Ban Appeal will go through and well... it was 3 years ago when the hijacking occurred... hopeful 2nd chances exist for accounts...

Anyways...

I recently was informed about something... that really what should be happening in such cases are 'Locking of Accounts' that are 'Acting Suspiciously'... Frankly Banning especially to 'established accounts' should be a last resort in any case. I still can't figure out how my account was accessed as Email wasn't accessible with the type of security it offers and having an 'Authenticator' should be you can't access the account either way.

Sounds like Jagex has been having a fairly questionable security issue and notdo what 'any player' would hope they would do to protect us from being harmed. I am curious to see where this thread is going as I feel some things should be handled in better fashions. The only people harmed from 'lack of security' is the player... not the hacker. I haven't even felt like playing much in the last 2 years due to the lack of security for the creator of the account which is us the players.

I have played RS for going on 20 years... I played far more during the first decade than in the last decade... I personally don't feel any of my accounts are safe in the least outside of having a very complicated password... but even then... does that matter?

Bank Pin: 3 day disable... why not email disable instead?
Authenticator: A 3rd Party App...
however the Authenticator wasn't required to log into account on runescape.com?
Guardian: IP LOCKING

Runescape.com Login: Doesn't offer Security Questions Anymore. I wonder... why don't emails get sent out for like 100 attempts at logins? Why doesn't a 'recaptia' come up to annoy me 100 times.... Why doesn't even ask 'What is the Character's Name attached to 'This Account Login'

Lots of good questions for Jagex to ponder along with this Guardian... I am just presenting some questions that might be good too?
