In 2004 the Gowers
promised
players Classic would remain open to those loyal to it and decided to stay. Thousands chose to do so, leaving their items and skills on the game they were acquainted to and preferred, as they continued happily playing the RuneScape they loved, post RS2 release.

A very small number would have retained that decision had they known what would eventually take place.

6 August, 2018, Jagex made the Gowers liars, and shutdown 17 years worth of hard work, progress, and history. Corporate greed has infiltrated Jagex.

Jagex's excuses were lies , and sorry ones at best. They have betrayed their eldest customers, the ones that made them.

Everyone should take warning:
BECAUSE OF THIS PRECEDENT, WE CAN NO LONGER BE CONFIDENT THAT OSRS/RS3 WILL NOT EVENTUALLY MEET THE SAME FATE.

I have offered the company a deal: allow me to personally pay the cost to maintain ONE SINGLE SERVER. I have offered to contractually pay any additional costs it would take to keep our history and progress alive, while allowing the company to keep all membership profits from a single server's players.
Jagex has denied me this request

"I'm afraid we're not offering it."

When asked about a source code release:

"If the company gives it away, it can never consider [profiting from it] it in the future, even though it doesn't currently have plans to do so."

Jagex has turned from a small business of three brothers, to a large, greedy corporation that will backstab the very community that gave them their riches in order to pinch pennies.

Welcome to the new age of RuneScape. I'm really sorry for those who missed out on the great years.

"RuneScape Classic" is and always be the true RuneScape, and no amount of corporate greed or microtransactions can change that.

RSC Forever.

Yeah, I never really cared that much about Classic, but seeing how Jagex has handled this incident makes me feel uneasy about it as well. I'd imagine that RS3 has around 5 years left to live if its core issues like the MTX isn't fixed and the decline continues, while for OSRS it's harder to say anything because it has kept steadily growing these past few years.

Sadly, OSRS is now as close as we can get to the originality of the game we loved.

The fact that things have gotten to this point makes me genuinely sad.

That's why they're hopping over to mobile, where MTX is expected, and much more aggressive.

There's that Harry Potter game from yours truly, Warner Bros, where they had your player character(a child) strangled by a tree. Of course, by the time that happens, you're out of "energy", and you're basically forced to watch the child struggle for dear life. If you miss the timer to get your free energy, the timer actually resets, which means you get to wait all over again.

I see you still didn't get that Herbiboar. You can get it with the guaranteed pet drop potion, for only $75,50.
What kind of MTX do
YOU
want to see in OSRS?
