I think this thread will last enough time for one of two things to happen:
1. OP gets bored and lets this thread die.
2. OP understands why this happened and then knowingly lets the tread die.

Until then, I guess they will be stuck in a perpetual loop of expecting unreasonable demands.

Seems like it :/

I've thought about this a bit over the last few months and I'm coming around to the idea of RSC again.

RSC just feels more...pure, to myself and many others. I realise that the Gower Bros. are no longer at Jagex and therefore they can't keep the promise that it would be kept online.

If Jagex can take a version of Runescape from 2007 and maintain it and keep it secure, there's no reason why they can't do the same for a version from 2004.

It's probably just a money thing. It's not that it's impossible, just that the amount of effort/money to remove all the bugs and bring it in line with OSRS/RS3 is more than they can be bothered to do.

Such a shame.
Meh.

It really is a shame. The game should have been left as is just for respect for the original players that were still active in the game.

It all comes down to money in the end. :(

Im just wanting to know how you can be so upset at jagex when they communicated just fine by giving you loads of time to plan for the last days of classic?

From what i can tell at least you just choose to make them the bad guys just like ppl who dislike MTX.
I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and answer your question Draco.

I have the RIGHT to be upset with Jagex, as do so many others, because we were told the game wouldn't be closed should we choose to stay. The "plan" for the last days of Classic is irrelevant, as there shouldn't have been a plan in the first place.

They are the bad guys, because they are cutting off their eldest players, and essentially telling them to go kick rocks.

I'm not sure if you play RS3, or OSRS, but imagine: Whatever you've play, you've played for 17 years. They tell you: "Hey bud, I know you've been paying us all this time, and I know you've worked so hard, but go fuck yourself. You get nothing. Bye."

How would you honestly feel?

It's not strange to be upset when they communicate just fine to plan for the last days.
tbh Rob atm i don't care about any of their games.
If they close everything they better delete the forum and everything written on it too.

Haven't checked this thread for a few months. Have I missed anything?
RIP RSC :(

Unfortunately not.

Odds are the game won't be coming back, but I'll still be here grunting and groaning about my displeasure lol.

Can someone remind me why the Gowers sold away their company?

Also Rob can I ask you if you attempted to negotiate the price of maintaining the server. D'you reckon you would've been more successful if you offered a higher price to maintain the server?

I'm just curious on how long you were planning on maintaining the server before your finances were depleted.

Unless you're telling me that it actually takes minimal effort to maintain the server? In the sense that all Jagex has to do is just run the programme?

I'm just curious and want to understand more.

For me, if I had a server and it costed me a certain amount which I don't have the finances to maintain, and someone offered financial support, I would question how long I would have that financial support.

Unless you're telling me that with the profit they've gained over the years, they should've been able to maintain the server now more than ever? Of course, how would you have privy of that knowledge?

Have you considered the possibility that the Classic community population had plummeted to the point that the company saw fit to reasonably shut down the server?

In any case, if they did have the codes, similar to Old School, don't you think it's possible to reclaim the server?
