Anyone who disagrees with Rob or has a different opinion is a troll, apparently.
@Immortalized, some people have played classic but don't have a 15 year cape. They still deserve to have a voice in this. And really, all other players are connected to RSC through Jagex. So I don't agree that it should be filtered in this case.
I have offered the company a deal: allow me to personally pay the cost to maintain ONE SINGLE SERVER. I have offered to contractually pay any additional costs it would take to keep our history and progress alive, while allowing the company to keep all membership profits from a single server's players.
Jagex has denied me this request
"I'm afraid we're not offering it."
When asked about a source code release:
"If the company gives it away, it can never consider [profiting from it] it in the future, even though it doesn't currently have plans to do so."
I'm not sure if you went over this in your thread or not ( i'm sorry but so many pages full of spam is hard to sift through) But if I was in charge of Jagex, I would not give you the servers or codes to Rs classic either. Mainly because I would be like " who the hell are you to want to buy the rights to this section of the game". Regardless of what your intentions are and what you think you can do with it.
I don't even thing the Gowers would give you the rights to have the RS class servers if they were still in charge. It has so many bad implications and precedents to allow a third party control of a server.

I offered to pay the costs associated with them keeping a server running, not to buy the game from them.
Though Classic is an old game, the cost to actually purchase the game from Jagex would likely be in the millions (which I obviously don't have).
As far as a source code release; that was actually the original plan.
In 2009, a project had been started to make Classic open sourced, downloadable, and allow players to build onto the game and do their own thing with it.
This, in my opinion, is a great compromise.
Unfortunately, as stated in the thread, the idea was scrapped because it wouldn't make them money.

Exactly.
Just because you didnt play on day 1 doesnt mean you cant discuss something.
