I've pretty much accepted that this game is dead. It's just not what it once was. It is what it is. Every thing has its prime. Great sports teams. Great games. I came back to this game, created a new account even, because I thought maybe I'd enjoy it like I used to when I was a kid.. But the community is DEAD. The game worlds are empty. Mini-games like Soul Wars, Castle Wars, are all dead. PVP is DEAD.

This game probably 3-4 years left to live.

I refuse to spend the next few years investing time and emotional energy into this account when Jagex will likely fold and call it quits on RS in a few years time.

How much would jagex demand for a fan to be able to have the source code released? Probably a number only the richest of rsc users can afford.

Well back in time (2010) the arrangement was to sell off classic to the classic wiki community for 2,000,000 Swedish Krona, I don't know what the rate was back then but doubt it changed too much to USD. On today's rate is about 220k USD. I don't know if a single player could or would pay up that much but the question is why assume only sell to 1 and not community instead. Then again new Jagex doesn't like in throwing numbers or fears that people would gather the sum.

You can still ask for them, but due to the reason of damaging other players it is highly unlikely that it will ever occur.
Jagex gave you the option to move your items from RSC multiple times, you didn't take them up on the offer and so by their words its final.

Right the multiple times that was between march and april 2004 when they clearly never said they would stop supporting RSC. And when does damaging of item values has been under consideration? Was damaging considered for instance when it was the item duplication glitch? the falador massacre?

You are full saying unsupported but was never clearly communicated as such:

What is RuneScape Classic?
RS-Classic is a previous version of RuneScape which we've decided to keep online so you can see what RuneScape used to look like. As we're continually developing and updating RuneScape it's changed quite a lot over the years so RS-Classic is kept here for nostalgia reasons, and for those who prefer a simpler unchanging experience.

[...]

Also please note that RS-Classic is no longer being updated, since obviously if we added all our updates then it would just become identical to the main game. [...]

RS-Classic is no longer open to new players. RS-Classic is a previous version of RuneScape which was superceded years ago. We've kept this old version online purely to support some of our loyal players who have been with us since the start and want to play the old version of the game they are used to.

Note: this version is no longer updated or fully supported. [...]

So what do we get a thank you for being loyal with us but you are no longer getting your favorite game. And for new players, the ability to no longer see how was Runescape. Even historians and server replicators to their best ability can't fill that gap which is sad. But yea as stated in OP sadly under new Jagex none of their games are exempt of getting trashed.

If you view me as horrible, that's ok. You have the right to be wrong.

But remember, you agreed every time you logged in, to this:
"WE DO NOT GUARANTEE THE ONGOING SUPPLY OF ANY JAGEX PRODUCT. UPON REASONABLE NOTICE TO YOU, JAGEX MAY DEACTIVATE ANY ACCOUNT AND YOU ACKNOWLEDGE AND AGREE THAT YOU ARE NOT ENTITLED TO ANY REFUND FOR ANY AMOUNTS PAID IN CONNECTION WITH THE ACCOUNT."

Exactly.

Love how ppl so easily gloss over that.

The gowers are idiots and lost control of their company.

One of the biggest mistakes you can make.

Created something from nothing that employs many other people and made them multi-millionaires.
I don't think they are stupid, by any count.
They wanted to sell and leave and so they did, there's nothing idiotic about that.

It was said from the release of Rs2, that RSC would receive no updates to keep the game as it was. They didn't specifically state that the game would close in Aug 2018. But you agreed to their terms and conditions that things may change and they reserve the right to close down their own products.

Every update? Every glitch? Every bot ban?
Jagex are constantly protecting the economy in both OSRS and RS3. They flat out ban people who are involved in glitches where profit is gained as that negatively effects the economy. They even perform rollbacks if it is deemed necessary.
With the items such as the classic cape and veteran capes in place, it does seem like sentimentality is not the driving force of the argument.

Your right, it was never clearly communicated as such. But does that mean it wasn't unsupported in that time? No.

We can easy say that it was unsupported from at the very least 2 years ago when Mod balance addressed the crystal chest bug.

But, it can be unsupported without them saying so.

Have you read the terms and conditions even once in the time you have been playing?

I'd also steer away from 3rd party copies of the game, they are illegal and Jagex would not take kindly to people advertising them on the forums.
