I'm fully aware of the existence of Forum Help, and how it has been misused for quite a while since they changed it from reports of serious forum issues only.

I explained that I believe we should try "not to target other groups" etc negatively, as RSOF is held to higher standards.

Not trying to backseat here, but I'm simply saying this from the point of view as an individual here.

To me, it is very clear that you have issues with what goes on on Reddit. That's fine. I've seen plenty of your posts out and about on RSOF that basically send shots. You like how RSOF is, fine. But what you should ask, is whether or not, genuinely , the community as a whole is happy with it. I believe it is actually selfish to cater to the few.

Now we can start chatting about "oh hurr these forums are owned by Jagex what they say goes". In all honesty, I don't give a monkeys. I'll respect their rules, but i'll respectfully leave and post what I want to post elsewhere.

If you could quote me some of the stuff that you're referring to, in this thread, with a direct link so I can see it, that would be great. This is a very long thread.

And there within lies the issue with the RSOF. Forget that Reddit objectively has better capabilities than the RSOF on the technical aspect of things. Fact of the matter is: Reddit has a much more relaxed ruleset than the RSOF. If the Forum Feedback thread is any indication as to what is going on, people want a more relaxed ruleset and more relaxed moderation. Simply saying "durr dey own it so dey can do whatever dey want" is a Thought-Terminating Cliche and completely misses the point people are trying to make.

However, it's been shown in the years past that CM DOES NOT want to do that. Yet, at this point, they're trying to make the Forums more appealing to use since Reddit craps on the RSOF by miles. This leaves a massive amount of cognitive dissonance, or:

They want to make the Forums more appealing to use, but they don't want to do the one thing that would make the Forums more appealing to use, which puts us in the situation we're in now where the Forums are more or less dying (if it's not already dead) and more people are moving over to Reddit as time goes on as Jagex buries their head in the sand instead of making meaningful change.

At this point: It doesn't quite matter what Jagex wants in terms of professionalism on a forum (Which is a joke, considering this is a GAMING board)- It's not a matter of "wanting" or "Not wanting" to make the Forums more appealing to use, but a matter of "They have to".

The solution doesn't sit well with Jagex (Relaxing the moderation and ruleset), but it has to be done. Whether they'll do it though is up in the air (although I doubt they will).

Hai btw Aerox :B

The only outright downside I can think of for Reddit is that people can (and will) downvote you into oblivion for posting an unpopular opinion, but it's shown that people are more than willing to tolerate that for the better technical capabilities, relaxed rules, and relaxed moderation, so that's more or less a moot point. 'Have you got a tl;dr for this thread? Also, are there any JMods responses in this? if so, link em.'

--

@ Aeroxmaster, Hi, nope, sorry there is no tl;dr for this thread. There is a post that I wrote on 13.2,3 that was given in reply to a post that Wilf wrote that clarifies & reconciles the content of the thread to the OP. That reply fills two posts though, so I guess those two post wouldn't really be a tl;dr either but they may be of interest to you.

What I can suggest is that if you feel the posts are to lengthy to read is to break down a post into bit size chunks in order to better digest what has been written. I use this method on occasion & it works.

Because I love to read I naturally think that everyone else does too which is why I don't usually include a tl;dr. Since it does appear that perhaps not everyone shares that same sentiment then perhaps I should have included a tl;dr. I will add one to the bottom of the OP.

Nope, there have been no Jmod replies made to the content of this thread nor do I expect there will be any because of the quasi journalistic style of this thread. A quasi journalistic style type of thread typically has more 'readers' than 'commentators'. If you had asked do I think that this thread has been read by Jmods, I would of answered yes without any hesitation.

However the thread is full of JMOD TIDBITS though. There is an index of sorts posted on the first page (1.5).

@Windsofnight, I'll be honest with you, I always have experienced your behavior as classy and well documented but with this thread you've shown your disrespectful negative side towards others, individual- & group of Players, who are situated elsewhere.
This thread you've used as a stick to hit others for reasons reasons that aren't a result of theirs creation.
To bad that people like you also become as as their most feared nightmare.

Here we go again, as mentioned previously, twice as a mater of fact, that if you have issues with the *content of this thread* or with *any post that I make* then please for the love of the RS Gods use the Forum Help thread, Qfc 254-255-526-65726662.

Returning to a thread just to launch a more personal attack is just, well, nonsensical.

My posting history on RSOF speaks for itself. As noted by the comments made on this thread & by the conversations that I have had in game about this thread, this thread has been well received & is enjoyed by the RSOF community.

If this thread is not your cup of tea then I would suggest that you move on to another thread that is. Thanks.

@Windsofnight, please, Forum Moderators per Forum Help thread aren't responsible for your content therefore it is superfluous to keep posting little pieces of whining about that I should talk to Forum Moderators.
As you well know it isn't in the spirit of The RSOF nor The Forum Community to launch attacks to Players or Groups of Players in other parts of The RuneScape Community still you remain doing so, therefore I made a post to remind you of yours unfair behavior.
You are very welcome to explain what Jagex is doing wrong in giving attention to parts of The RuneScape Community but instead of going further with criticising Jagex you target yourself to other Players. This will not change Jagex's stance & efforts at all but only create a negative atmosphere in The RuneScape Community which isn't very welcome.

I find it rather interesting how you are taking your time to respond to my posts, editing some of your responses and re-responding to different parts of my posts days later.

#getrrunescapeoffofthehomepage

What's this supossed to mean? It's rather obvious that you mean "getredditoffthehomepage".

Furthermore, whilst you may not care or maybe even be able to see it from someone else's point of view, the type of wording and messages you're posting here can be seen as baiting. Simply because Reddit users do not use the forums, does that mean it should be ok for players to discuss the Reddit community in a negative light?

Hey, look: you can't really complain if that sort of thing is allowed on Reddit. After all, you guys are the ones who support the rules of RSOF, so how can you complain that you're not allowed to do the same on RSOF? That's right, you shouldn't be able to.

There is no need to repeat to me to use Forum Help. You and I know full well what will happen if that's used, because moderation works here in that anything that goes in favour of Jagex is what goes, simply by the catch-all rule. Therefore it is no use. Does that mean that I shouldn't be allowed to continue to give my opinion here? Tbh, idc.

This thread hardly is being pulled off topic when there are multitudes of pages documenting Reddit content. Where is the discussion? If anything, it looks more like a personal journal. It's not really even a guide.

What is your main aim here? To get Jagex to spend more time on the forums? To get Reddit removed from the main page because you dislike what the community there has to say about the RSOF?

You seem to focus only on the negative aspects of Reddit. Seeing as you are not involved in the commnity and probably have no interest in it, then you don't pay attention to any normal, genuine content that's posted there which would even be interesting for the likes of RSOF users to enjoy reading.
