@Krystl: Hey. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

To be completely honest, I never thought of it the way you just have presented it. I do agree that if I were grieving and a thread of mine gets locked to be directed to the sticky, I wouldn't feel any better. I simply created this thread to see how popular this idea was after someone suggested it, but what you just posted is excellent so I wish to personally thank you for that. It was a very touching post.

Thanks again, Krystl ^_^ .

And the first entry should be: "RIP Forums"

In Memoriam

Slain by the advent of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Reddit, and countless other platforms, the RueScape Official Forums died a slow and painful death due to refusing to incorporate even the most basic of features available to other forum software platforms since the early 2000s.

We gather to remember the fast-paced activities of General, Rants, Recent Game Updates, and Future Game Suggestions. Long gone is the era of posting a thread and keeping a vigilant eye on it, lest it fall off the front page in under an hour.

A moment of silence, if you will.

... not something to dismiss.

I hardly think making a thread to pay condolences on the death of a famous movie star (or something similar) would be classified as "personal information".

In addition, making a thread to mourn a beloved pet isn't exactly revealing (unless one is idiot enough to have the deceased pet's name as one's password which, surely, people don't do these days).

I've seen occasional threads announcing the death of another RS player who was a friend or clannie of the OP - again no personal details there.

So, a bit of a lame objection really.

So wait...

It's okay to have a single post for people to post their original music (which has seen just 6 original pieces posted in 4 months), but we don't get a single post for people to post obituaries (which happens far more often)?

Sounds like the left hand doesn't know what the right hand's doing, to me.

As always, I'm intrigued to know more details. How is someone's personal information being divulged when they come to the Off-Topic sub-forum to share their condolences about someone that has just died? If you are referring to a player that has just lost their Mom and they divulge the Mom's name and address, then that's a different story and nobody has ever done that.

Most, if not, all threads that have been posted have been about a celebrity or well-known person.

That's a very good comparison. Thanks for pointing that out.
