I had a huge quality reply done for this thread yeaterday but hit the wrong button and lost it all. I didn't do it again as it bugged me lol.

Anyway here is a short version.

I don't personally like the idea of P-Mods being shown on the Forums for the simple reason is they are supposed to be stealthy and invisible. Meaning the Community out there do not know who they are unless they all ready know them. Also I don't see a reason why F-Mods should be shown ingame.

Now if all the P-Mods were given a nice flash background and used the forums a lot. Then these so called bot makers could gather and make a list of all the P-Mods and add them to the botting software so when a P-Mod shows up they act different or even log out. It's a huge issue as it was done some time ago when 1000's of bots on RS3 Yews and Willows were active. A P-Mod showed up and said anything they liked the whole bot army logged out and vanished. So if a list of active P-Mods got into the botting domain it could cause some issues.

As for the Community Helpers I agree they need a coloured background. It really would help out and been suggested many times to Jagex. They need to stand out within the Forums when they are helping people with their issues.

Thats the short version.

That is a very out of the box thought with the bots and compiling lists of p mods. I guess so far the conclusion to this is that it just isn't worth it and would bring little benefit to the forums.

Do you really believe that "being stealthy/invisible" makes you able to out-gun bots/cheaters?
I'll be honest, ... I think that a list of existing PMods already does exist and is updated from time to time. The Team only does need to have "1 silent rotten apple" who does his/her job well for Jagex but also supplies the other side with intel.
So that argument that they need to live in the Shadows of RuneScape for their work for Jagex is a bit over-exaggerated.
Jagex always has said that any volunteer is first & foremost a player first and should enjoy playing RuneScape ... and certainly they aren't MI6.

3) Makes event hosting easier and look more legit since a lot of p mods I know like to host events.
Sadly the forums aren't driving in players to events nowadays. I remember back when I used to advertise the Pink Skirts events every week via the forums, but it became too tedious to advertise on the forums for the level of attendance it brought (practically zero).

Nowadays attendees are virtually all brought in through the in-game calendar. A handful may come from Twitter or via Discord. The feeds on those two platforms in particular are automated so it's very easy to keep them going even if between them they only generate a handful of attendees. (For what it's worth, I can only speak for the Pink Skirts here)

The truth is, I don't think people generally go to the forums to look for events. Quite often you might see threads in the events forum where players are in the spirits to host an event, but you generally never see players then hosting more events after their first when they only use the forums. Consider the RuneScape Gathering - a huge event back in the day, but when it stopped getting hosted and advertised via YouTubers it fell flat, and attempts to revive it bore no fruit.

The forums just aren't the platform of choice when it comes to advertising events. It's manual, and the level of traffic within the events forum just isn't high enough. I don't really think that allowing the team to have a coloured background on the forums will really change that. After all the issue lies in relevant traffic , not one of trust.

Yeah Icey it's a bit of a shame honestly, because I remember back in 2014-2016 a lot of events were being held via the forums for both games with a lot of p mods hosting those events. This was with the aid of Twitter of course.
I think since Reddit basically became the go to forum for both games, there isn't really much of a point to posting events on the official forums as they won't really be seen.

TLDR all the arguments made on this thread basically conclude that it is a pointless idea with more negatives than positives. The forums and in game problems should remain separated.

I think there isn't much left to say on the topic so I'll ask for a padlock.

Thanks for all the feedback. :)
