The overall experience that I concurred from the Forums was a pleasant one but there's far too many cliques and social webs that are hardly impossible to crack the code unless you know the right person to be able to socialize with that group. Far too many times I've seen fellow Forumers' queries and utter expressions been treated as a minor concern.

Apparently the weather is far more important than an in-game related question that some unpopular Forum User elaborated in extensive care.

My first initial question was:

How do I post?!!!

Then 5 minuets later, after an expedition around the page, I see it under the chat box. :P

However, I always had this idea of a huge potential for this thing, and I was right!

I don't remember, since it was so long ago, and it couldn't have been very interesting because I don't remember. First memory that I do have from the forums was an firemaking minigame suggestion, probably around 2006, that spanned something like 20 posts. I maintained it for a few months - long enough for people to see what it was. But after a bout of inactivity it "fell off" the 50th page on the Suggestions forum section; the section was called something else back then, don't remember what.

I'm not sure but I guess that it was for finding a quest partner for Heroes and selling stuff.

lol Jones. Same here. :D

I first came to the forums years ago, to suggest that player Owned Houses allow firelighters to be used in fireplaces, as I thought that would be pretty. My suggestion was locked by an Fmod, with a polite message saying that if I wanted to post a suggestion, I needed to flesh it out a bit more (but he didn't give me a chance to edit/add more). He also suggested that I read the FSR, and I was thinking, "Umm ... the what?" . I was happy to read whatever I needed to read - just hadn't even noticed the FSR yet. Was tooooo new!

With my bottom lip trembling, I left the forums and didn't come back for ages, probably months. :(

On asking someone about it, that was the first time I heard the word 'Fmod". I wasn't mad about it, as the person was just doing what he had to do, but it put me off trying again for a long time.

I've never forgotten that, and although there are certain things I need to do as an Fmod when taking action on threads, (in order to follow the guidelines given to me) I try to be as nice as I can while doing it.

Thank you for sharing your stories. Good to read. :)

Many years ago, I randomly clicked on the Forums just to see what they were. Since I love discussion and food for thought, I was immediately hooked! The RSOF is a lovely place to be. :)

I made my first post aaaaages ago. I asked why a Pmod I met in-game spoke to players who were not mods in 13375p34k only. I really have no idea why. Who on earth would be able to answer that other than him?

I mentioned his name so my thread was locked. The Fmod who locked it is still around today. :P

Sometime after that, I created a new thread (which was also locked, can't remember why or what it was about), but before the same Fmod got a chance to lock it, somebody posted on it telling me I should message them in-game. I did, and it turns out she was a Pmod who explained why what was happening to me was happening.

We were friends for ages until she quit. She was once an Fmod so she knew how things worked very well. She reassured me the forums were and a great place and she encouraged me to post more after giving me some guidance on what to do and what not to do.
