When I first started using the new forum (don't remember me using the old one), it was a confusing thing because to me, the forum setup is not the most organized thing out there compared to what I've seen from other communities. And not to mention that this forum lack a lot of options compared to what other software have (such as vBulletin, IPB, SMF etc., and I know Jagex made this forum themselves).

Anyway, as I said, the first experience was confusing as I always try to find places where to post threads in the correct spot and this forum has boards all over the place where I would have least expected it.

I started in off-topic board though, I usually always find some things that I would like to post on and it started there to general, suggestions board etc.

On 2009 I think, I had an in-game suggestion that I wanted to post, so I created a thread with the suggestion and got many supporters.
From that day I started posting on forums and give ideas, share my opinion or answer questions that I know.

I don't recall the year but first time I used forums...

Only members could post, and there were no avatars.

I first looked at the off-topic and there was this thread on funny school stories. I ended up reading the entire thread while laughing the whole time.

Also, I remember there being a well-known poster named "Snipers gun." He only paid for membership to post lol. Would be cool if anyone else knew him.

Edit: searched for him and he only has a few posts saying it's worse now than when he left lol

The first time I came across Forums I lurked upon Off-Topic. I've been played Runescape for years and when I viewed the Forum homepage as a young one I blinked and closed it because I had no idea what it was for, lol I didn't know any better. A few years later, I came back and actually started reading the topics and scrolled down. Finally I stumbled upon Off-Topic and found my new pastime :) I've been a part of Runescape for ten years, and Forums, three. When foreign versions became available I began posting in the French version because it's easier for me as there are players from different parts of the world where English is not our first language. I also like how posts are "threads" and everything is binded into sections like well, a book haha.

I post pretty much all over much Forums, and it's always a pleasure to contribute ^_^

Unlike some other *ahem* folks here, I can't say my first memory is having a locked thread (though I have had a few in my day.. :P )

The first thing I can think of is consistently seeing 4-5 really active FMods just tanking the spam day in and day out. I imagine they had to have multiple tabs open to be able to track it all down, there was even a conspiracy that FMods were all robots! For a while there I would hesitate posting too much so my thread wouldn't get locked. :P

The Rants forum attracted me to RSOF. I used to read some threads there, most of which were pretty funny to read, and eventually I got involved, becoming an active poster and haven't really stopped posting since.

Forums were more enjoyable for me back then for sure. Nowadays, they are very dull for the most part (mostly due to inactivity, they aren't as lively as they once were) and it's very hard to come across interesting threads. :|

What was your first Forum interaction and how was it?

Additional questions for more experienced Forums visitors: What hooked you, what made you a regular forumer? What was your best moment on the Forums?

Not really remember when or how I started using forums, but back then I had tones of informations I wanted to share with other people. FriendsChats, ClanChats didn't exist back then and random people I bumped into skilling just weren't enough.

I used both of the Skills subForums back then the most. Sharing and collecting informations about all aspects of the skilling and (non-Combat) XPs gains.

I also lurked into Guides Forum too, had like 3 quite large Guides running at the time.
I got hooked and just couldn't stop. :)
