Yep. Captcha is still on steroids...

Today was the first day in almost 2 weeks where I didn't get it immediately upon login.
I haven't got it today either!
Two logins so far, one 3am and one 5pm.
Life is like a camera: Just focus on what's important, capture the good times, develop from the negatives, and if things don't work out, take another shot !

The best way ive found for getting around the captchas is turning on a VPN before trying to sign in then once you are turn it off.

I've heard of players doing this. Never tried it myself, though.

I've also heard of third-party programs that will solve CAPTCHAs for you. I've never used one, nor would I, as I don't employ 3PC of any kind.

Still, the fact that there are several ways around CAPTCHA suggest that, as a security measure, it's not all that effective.

Exactly what sort of "attack" is provoked by a 'Scaper logging OUT of the RSOF?

Sorry, but that is a load of crap. 100% utter crap.
...
Account hijacking/hacking.
Are you seriously implying Jagex has no way to tell whether someone is simply logging out of their own account, or has been forced off the forums via a hijacking?

Furthermore, using a shadowy, third-party CAPTCHA peddler is supposed to make our accounts more secure?

No, I don't buy it. I'll just log out when I am done, thank you.
What I am implying is that Jagex/JMods are allowed to investigate/protect, things they do see as a threat or have a reasonable impression/feeling that what they do helps to solve issues on the long run.

Players who do seek ways to circumvent these 'captcha(s)' are making it themselves more difficult to get rid of it as changing routines will alarm the system throwing around more and more captcha(s).
Jagex's Systems aren't seeking more intel/information of a player, they only wanna prove/see proof that whomever is contacting their systems proofs to be who they are to be and nothing else inbetween. Even if that includes players ending that contact to their systems.

You make a good point about changing routines - but I have not changed my routine in many, many years. I log in, make a post or two or a few, then click log out. Jagex are the ones who recently changed their routine by encouraging us to beg the CAPTCHA Gods for permission to leave the RSOF. This change in behavior is somewhat suspicious.

Maybe Jagex should have to solve some CAPTCHA challenges to prove they are not robots.

As I predicted, the difficulty of my captchas has been increasing steadily. The visual difference is becoming a joke and they include photoshopped 'mirage' images now. Also blank spaces and 'automatic fails' that reject accurate submissions.

And um, oh yeah.....if turning on a VPN avoids the captcha what does that mean? Like, it is not my behavior at all?

Those are the people you should be targeting. Very suspicious!
