It's because the forums have a lack of updates and customisation, which is what makes social media much more appealing, even to me. Using the RSOF, on any platform now is a nightmare just because of how many times Captcha gets slapped in your face - it's got to a point that I even reduced my activity on the forums from every day to at most 2 times a week now, because of how annoying it is.

Using the RSOF on a mobile device is awful. It uses way too much data and loading because of how graphic heavy each forum post is, etc.

Customisation is a huge issue - all you can really do on the RSOF is a tiny little forum signature and an in-game photo. Social media just has a whole range more.



There's a load more, but honestly, you all get the idea. The only way for the RSOF to ever catch up is to drastically update these forums to the 2020s, give a load more customisation, and tell staff that they cannot share any game related content on social media, and only exclusively on the forums.

At the rate of decline the forums are going, I wouldn't be surprised if Jagex shuts them down by 2025, or sooner. A sad thought coming from someone who cares a lot about our community here, but it's honestly what I feel is coming, eventually.

You know me well enough bro and i'm usually the 1st the blame Jagex for anything lol.

But in this instance i am actually on their side, updates and customisation for the forums "yes, would be a waste of time [qfc id=]whatever[/qfc]

Yes because of Social media but that is not really what i am talking about here...

What i am actually talking about is "yes, we have Social media" but what stops the long term regulars who have not stayed here just popping back from time to time to say hello, how are you, how are things, you can't tell me that just because forums don't have a "Like" button people cba popping by lol.

That is where the somewhat heavy handed policing and forums where being made too child friendly and people started getting into trouble for trivial things which for the most part were smiled at until someone decided to become offended and action was taken.

Imo, most of the people who used these forums had been here for years and were old enough to have their own mind of what they wanted to see and read but while it seemed everything was N.S.F.W people got pissed off and jumped onto the Social media bandwagon cos they could have a laugh without worrying if they might get into shit for showing, idk, a peachy ass.

RSOF hasn't been active for years already. It may look even more dead now not just because ROSF is a "sinking ship" but Jagex is a fading company. Go look Jagex's games on other social media like Reddit and you should have an idea. It is the weekend and you should see there are only 3k users on RS3 and OSRS subreddits combined. Not long ago in a similar Saturday you would see like 15k just on 2007scape subreddit.

And Jagex is a fading company not only because of tremendous competition but also because they voluntarily remove themselves from the awareness of the real world. They have released almost no corporate information even though they made record revenue in 2020 to the real world so main street and Wall Street have already declared them DEAD.
