I will always use the forums. I very rarely look at social media, I have to be desparate for info to do so. I haven't made accounts to use any of them. I don't even use facebook for non RS things.

If this RSOF is a sinking ship as Scouse so elegantly put it, one must ask the question:
How did it become a sinking ship? Was Twitter and Reddit to blame? Partially.
But that's not the only problem now is it mateys?
I'd love to elaborate on why I think the RSOF became a sinking vessel, but alas, I cannot.
Enjoy the time, Cap'n Scouse.
I can't elaborate either, i know the reason but you know me well enough to know that if i posted what my true thoughts were, i'd probably get banned for naming and shaming, bad language and gifs that are deemed NSFW haha
Much love
Scouse - Bare ass gif is a welcome distraction away from some of the bollocks we used to have to witness here lol

You misunderstood/made a bad comparison and I couldn't be bothered to explain it further, sorry.
As long as there is stuff like this, forums will remain, unless these little funny disagreements somehow become "offensive" to some and forum mutes and bans , even stfu threats start getting thrown around "again"
Much love
Scouse - Hommmmmmmm, peace to all mankind <3

There are many reasons the RSOF died, and not because of the reasons you're all mentioning above and not wanting to name and shame, etc. It's clearly obvious what you're all talking about, but for the most part, it isn't because of that.
It's because the forums have a lack of updates and customisation, which is what makes social media much more appealing, even to me. Yes, I love RSOF and the community that's still here, but I cannot deny the ease of access and customisation that social media has over the RSOF which just make it so much more easier to use - and I wouldn't be the only one to think this way.
Using the RSOF, on any platform now is a nightmare just because of how many times Captcha gets slapped in your face - it's got to a point that I even reduced my activity on the forums from every day to at most 2 times a week now, because of how annoying it is.
Using the RSOF on a mobile device is awful. It uses way too much data and loading because of how graphic heavy each forum post is, etc.
Customisation is a huge issue - all you can really do on the RSOF is a tiny little forum signature and an in-game photo. Social media just has a whole range more.
There's a load more, but honestly, you all get the idea. The only way for the RSOF to ever catch up is to drastically update these forums to the 2020s, give a load more customisation, and tell staff that they cannot share any game related content on social media, and only exclusively on the forums.
At the rate of decline the forums are going, I wouldn't be surprised if Jagex shuts them down by 2025, or sooner. A sad thought coming from someone who cares a lot about our community here, but it's honestly what I feel is coming, eventually.

Success is not final, failure is not fatal. It is the courage to continue that counts.
Did the purple CM mods disappear? The one I am familiar with last posted on January 31, which set off a huge red flag for me. End of the month combined with weeks of continued inactivity.
Loki is right historic neglect is what's lead to the decline of the fourms, but it's a very slow decline. Old School clan section is probably keeping the lights on.
@Roddy, Can't say as I'd noticed tbh, but that's only a few weeks so could be anything.
Not sure if the other one ever got replaced either come to think of it, can tell I don't spend as much time here as I used to lol.
