I wonder what the VIP badge will look like too & how it will be shown in placement to the membership badge. My guess is that it will show above the membership badge on forums. My how-it-will show guess for in-game is that it will show just like a title does now in game that you can toggle on or off.

Tbh I think the VIP badge will replace the member badge in some respects. For those that are VIPs (thus also are members), the current membership badge will probably change colour or have a tooltip when you hover over it that says "VIP."

@Johnny, yep, your guess was more right than mine! Jagex put the forum VIP symbol (which looks like a holiday candle to me, no offense to the designer) in the center of the existing member badge & when you hoover over it, it says Gold Premier Club Member. Lolz, my bad, my guess was thinking more in line with the the actual meaning of VIP in relationship to something that would stand out indicating a Very Important Person.

A locked thread (qfc 14-15-912-65225474) has an example of the Gold Premier Club Member forum badge. Treemaids thread (qfc 278-279-531-65223858) post 5.10 by IceyClaus provides RS wiki links to images for all three badge symbols posted by Mod Michelle on Wiki. Not sure if those images have been posted yet to the RSOF though...

Something I'd like to know, if anyone with premier can answer it for me...

If you toggle off the badge in game, does it toggle off on the forums too?

Or,

Is there an independent way of toggling them each off?

Or,

Can you only toggle it off in game, not on the forums?

^ Rooh's answered this for me now on another thread. Looks like having the chat badge toggled off in game, does not toggle it off on the forums, and there's no other way of turning off the badge on the forums once you have purchased premier membership. :/

What happened to privacy?

So was I. Glad it's not! Lessens the potential problems with such a feature at least.

Interesting an forum update

Original message details are unavailable.
Some minor things have been changed today!

We now have HTML5 validation in all places where you create a thread or post, so if you forget to fill in the title or message you should now see a little message from your browser (if it supports it, most do) to inform you before it submits it to the server.

We fixed the issue where there was a "Click here and type your message" tooltip when you put your mouse on the text area where you write your post.

BBCode buttons should now be much more nicely aligned.

When replying to a thread using the full reply page or when adding a new thread we moved the "Cancel" button away from the bottom right corner (I can't tell you how many times I clicked this by accident :@ ) and into the top right. It is also now a "Return to..." button to be consistent with other parts of the forum.

Hope you like these minor things, more will be coming soon :)

Great to see that ay Simbaha? Though I do hope that the next improvements will be ones that have a greater impact on the forum using experience. There are so many great ideas that have been suggested, and so few implemented. Mustn't complain though, every little helps. :) AKA: Arbr**** Vie

Is an individuals privacy really compromised by the membership badge? The membership badge only tells the viewer how long the individual has maintained membership without interruption. How is the membership badge any different from a forum avatar picture since both are forum benefits associated with membership?

---

This may or may not be helpful but it does appear that if someone really doesn't like looking at the membership badges on forums or the stars in-game that there are options to use. I have noticed several threads right here on RSOF that have content that does mention that there are options for an individual to use if they don't want to 'see' the forum membership badges or the stars in-game. On your thread (qfc 278-279-16-62888815) on 412.2 it is mentioned that an individual can use a userscript & there is also a thread, 'Guide how to remove VIP stars' by Anon Troll qfc 15-16-508-65226047 that makes the suggestion to use 'adblock' along with directions. Betcha can't guess which thread I found the link to that thread on (although that post has since been edited).

Hi Winds,

Yes, it is a privacy issue to me. I was specifically talking about the premier members' badge though, not just the one indicating when your last subscription was (though I have reasons to dislike that too). If I decide to purchase premier membership, I'd like to be able to decide myself who, if anyone, I choose to make aware of that. I don't want the whole world to know that, whether I want them to or not. Why should they? It's no one else's business which members' package I choose to buy, so why should that information about my private transactions with Jagex be made public?

Regarding the method of hiding the badge that has been posted by some, that only hides it on your own view of the forums. Everyone else can still see your badge and of course everyone elses' badge too, so that solves nothing except reducing the visual clutter for the individual who does that, which is very minor advantage and certainly not the main issue for me. I'd want to be able to hide my premier badge to everyone. No point hiding it from myself when I already know it's there after all.

'If I decide to purchase premier membership, I'd like to be able to decide myself who, if anyone, I choose to make aware of that.'

I would say that as a consumer you made your choice at the time of purchase. As with most promotional packages that include levels of benefits the consumer is given a choice *at the time* of purchase as to which benefits that they want to receive.

As we can see the specifics to each level offered in the Bronze, Silver, Gold packages are outlined on the Premier Club page which includes a hover over question mark that helps the consumer make the decision as to which package includes the benefit that they want to purchase.

Since the Premier Club package price has increased from last year & runecoins were not offered this time, this would indicate that the consumer made the choice at the time of purchase & wanted the all of the benefits outlined in which ever package they chose. ;)

'Regarding the method of hiding the badge that has been posted by some, that only hides it on your own view of the forums.' & 'I'd want to be able to hide my premier badge to everyone.'

--

I did mention that in my post too, since it does appear to be an option for the individual looking at the forum badge as visual clutter that needs to be hidden. In other words, *they* don't want to see it.

I am sure you would agree that it is important for the consumer to ask questions in order to find out what options are available, in your case, a toggle off feature for the forum badge *prior* to purchase. Asking questions helps the consumer decide if the benefits offered are what they are wanting to purchase or not.

From what I have been reading on the forums it does not appear to be a matter of consumer regret in relationship to the chat & forum badge offered as one of the benefits of the Premier Gold level package though.
